Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barristan Selmy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Walter Chestnut! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Chad Campbell and Anthony Taglia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Selmy scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Chestnut doesn't seem bothered though. Chestnut feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Selmys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Selmy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Chestnut manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Selmy is looking to control Chestnut's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Selmy avoid being mounted? Chestnut is trying to control the action in half guard but Selmy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Selmy wants to control but Chestnut is keeping busy.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Selmy keeping hold of Chestnut's head, controlling as best he can.
We're going to have a standup here because Barristan Selmy wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Selmy swings for the body but Chestnut moves out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round. Selmy misses with a jab to the body
and Chestnut counters with a lovely straight right hand! Selmy throws a hook but Chestnut avoids it easily. Chestnut takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Selmy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chestnut manages to avoid it. Chestnut lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. An inside leg kick from Chestnut misses. Selmy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Chestnut escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Selmy gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Selmy distracts Chestnut with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Chestnut holds on and takes a little breather. Selmy on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Selmy tries to get out of the position. Selmy controlling the position well. Selmy is looking for a sweep. Chestnut is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Chestnut wants to lay and pray for a moment but Selmy keeps working. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Barristan Selmy will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Chestnut looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Selmy takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Selmy fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Chestnut sprawls well initially but Selmy persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Selmy missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Chestnut moves into full guard.
Selmy postures up and lands a big shot to Chestnut's brow. Selmy makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Chestnut is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Selmy is aware though and is defending well. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Selmy is working Chestnut over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Chestnut throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Selmy drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Chestnut dives on top into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Selmy working a defensive guard here.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Chestnut with a body punch. A glancing blow. Nice defenses there by Selmy. Selmy looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Chestnut looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

I really don't envy Selmy right now.
Selmy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Chestnut on the ground. Chestnut is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Selmy with him. Selmy is trying to defend but Chestnut has an arm under the chin now! Selmy grimaces and is forced to tap out!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Walter Chestnut! Walter Chestnut decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
