Compton's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Granville Bowlin - Wild Bill. Dean Stevens has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Bill Compton!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Dean Stevens!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevens lands a jab to Compton's midsection.
Stevens walks into a jab.
Stevens lands a leg kick that knocks Compton off balance momentarily.
Bill Compton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Stevens swings widly with a right hand
and Compton counters with a straight right hand.
Stevens is looking to score with low kicks.
Stevens scoring well with a low kick there.
Compton goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Compton looks to land a combination but Stevens avoids it well.
Stevens fails with a takedown attempt.
Stevens misses with a body kick.
Compton pivots, looking for a leg kick but Stevens is out of range and Compton settles back down.

Stevens shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Compton manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Stevens trying to control but Compton is working from the bottom.

Compton pushes Stevens off and gets back to his feet.
Stevens avoids the body shot from Compton.
Compton thumps Stevens with a low kick.

Compton tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Compton throws a right and a left that both miss.
Stevens throws a shot to the body.
Stevens buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Compton misses with a right hand

and Stevens counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Compton's guard now.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stevens with a flurry of punches that miss.
Stevens stands up over Compton, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Stevens trying to control but Compton is working from the bottom.
Stevens might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Compton kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Compton looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Compton is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Stevens trying to control but Compton is working from the bottom.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Stevensis looking to pass into half guard but Compton pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Compton is in guard.
Stevens looking to control.
Stevens looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Stevens keeping moving, preventing Compton from controlling successfully.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Stevens shoots in but no luck this time.
Compton tries a head kick but it misses.
Some bone on bone action there as Stevens checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Stevens walks into a jab.
Compton swats away the attempt to clinch by Stevens.
Stevens throws a lazy uppercut
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Compton looks to land a left hand but Stevens moved out of range nicely.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Compton - that will leave a mark!
Compton lands a glancing blow to the side of Stevens's head.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stevens pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Stevens dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Stevens misses with a leg kick.
Bill Compton is winning the standup battle so far.
Stevens throws a hook but Compton blocks it.
Stevens lands a lovely overhand right.
Stevens tries a head kick but it misses.
Stevens lands a nice looking kick to the body. Compton takes a step back to recover.
Compton slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Compton throws a push kick but Stevens slaps the foot to one side.
Stevens displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Compton throws out the jab.
A clash of legs there as Compton blocks the low kick.
Compton fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Stevens misses with an attempted mid kick.
Compton avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Compton scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Stevens checks a leg kick nicely.
Compton throws a series of punches but Stevens moves out of range.
Stevens closes this distance looking for a takedown but Compton circles away.
Compton cracks the inside of Stevens's front leg.
Compton throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Stevens on the side of the head.

and Stevens counters with a nice body kick.
Compton plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Compton misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Stevens.
Compton walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dean Stevens has got the better of the ground game so far.

Compton manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Stevens wants to control but Compton is keeping him busy.
Stevens throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Stevens sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Compton defending well though.
Stevens wants to lay and pray for a moment but Compton keeps working.
Compton blocking the ground and pound attempt from Stevens.
Stevens throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Stevens is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Compton is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dean Stevens! Dean Stevens retains his lightweight title!
