Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Turner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ken Shamrock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shamrock has chosen Mortal Kombat theme song as his entrance music. John Turner had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, John Turner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ken Shamrock!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Aafke Stam and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shamrock.
Shamrock misses with a takedown
and Turner counters with an inside leg kick.
Shamrock will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
John Turner has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ken Shamrock.
Turner connects with a leg kick. Shamrock looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Shamrock changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Turner looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Shamrock goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Turner rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Shamrock's guard! Nice work there by Turner!
Turner is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Shamrock can do anything to dispel that myth.
Turner trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Turner sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Shamrock's guard.
Shamrock trying to control but Turner postures up.
Shamrock is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Turner is staying active.

Shamrock is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Turner pulls his head out easily.

Shamrock is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Turner defends well.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that John Turner will probably get the nod.

Turner throws a front kick aimed at Shamrock's knee but Shamrock avoids it well.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Good leg kick by Turner there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Shamrock takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Shamrock on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Ken Shamrock seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Turner throws a sloppy head kick and Shamrock moves out of range easily.
Shamrock throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Turner's waist but Turner gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Shamrock off to one side.
Turner throws a nice inside leg kick.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Turner motions for Shamrock to come forward. Turner throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.

Shamrock stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Turner.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Shamrock misses with a takedown attempt - Turner sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Turner is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Shamrock can do to turn this around?

Turner is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Shamrock has control of Turner's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Turner regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Turner is looking to get to half guard.
Shamrock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Turner is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Turner regains half guard.
Turner is looking to control Shamrock's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Turner avoid being mounted?

Shamrock is working for an americana but Turner has been sneaky and has managed to get back to half guard, whilst Shamrock was thinking about the submission.

Shamrock is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Turner is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Turner has escaped and now he's on top!

Turner is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Shamrock escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Turner gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Turner is really struggling to control Shamrock but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Shamrock working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Turner doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Turner manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Turner wants to get up but he can't break Shamrock's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Turner, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
