PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joey Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Shane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent comes to the cage accompanied by Shoot To Thrill by AC/DC. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Kent!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Shane!
The judges for this bout are Jorge Garcia, Bruno Lombardi and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shane scores with a head kick. Kent tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Shane buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Kent avoids the head kick by Shane.
Shane lands a slapping body shot.
Shane lands a high kick!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kent on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Shane scores with a sloppy right hand. Kent should have avoided that one.
Shane scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Shane fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Kent looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Kent shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Shane defends it nicely.
Shane stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shane wants it to stay on the feet.
Shane throws a head kick but Kent moves out of range.
Kent fails with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Kent. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Shane throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Kent's head.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kent manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Shane on his heels. He'll look to pass Shane's guard now, I'm sure.
Shane is trying to control the position but Kent postures up.
Shane wants to sweep here but Kent controlling him for the moment.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Shane holds on and takes a little breather.

Kent drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Kent seems to have locked his on tight now - Shane screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Kent, as he picks up the win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kneebar). Joey Kent!
A relieved looking Joey Kent thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
