Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, James Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Andy Fragoso!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, David Schapiro and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Warren has Fragoso up against the cage in a clinch.

Fragoso ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Fragoso no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Warren trying to control but Fragoso is working from the bottom.

Warren postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Fragoso is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Warren, into his guard.
Fragoso must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Warren wants to sweep but no luck.
Warren looking to control.
Warren has a closed guard, preventing Fragoso from standing up.
Warren is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Fragoso trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Fragoso wants to control from the top but Warren keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Warren shoots in but no luck this time.
Warren moves in looking to clinch but Fragoso pushes him off.

Fragoso is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Warren's half guard.

Well, if Fragoso is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fragoso accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Fragosois looking to pass into half guard but Warren pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Warren is in guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Warren tries to score a power double leg takedown but Fragoso sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Warren somewhat.
Warren shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Fragoso but Fragoso pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Warren. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Fragoso changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Warren looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Fragoso looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Warren is trying to control but can't.
Warren is looking for a sweep. Fragoso is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Warren is trying to stand.

Fragoso decides to stand and escape the position.

Warren shoots in and gets a takedown into Fragoso's guard.
Warren controlling from the top position.
Warren with a flurry of punches that miss.
Fragoso is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Fragoso has an active guard here but Warren has managed to pass into half guard.

Fragoso is positioning himself well to prevent Warren advancing to mount.
Warren wants to free his trapped foot but Fragoso is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Fragoso has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Warren is working away from the top position though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Warren is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fragoso can do anything to dispel that myth.

Warren wants to get back to his feet.
Fragoso is looking to improve his position.
Fragoso is doing well to control the position and prevent Warren from advancing to side control.
Warren perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Warren thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Warren tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Fragoso has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Warren is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Warren tries to lock up and control but Fragoso gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fragoso goes for an armbar but Warren turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Warren.
James Warren overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fragoso has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Warren off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Warren pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Warren swats away the attempt to clinch by Fragoso.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Warren here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
