Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack Christian! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
11 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Armando Vega ! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vega throws a jab when Christian was well out of range. Vega has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Christian doesn't manage to clinch there - Vega circles away.
Christian lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Vega circles away quickly and effectively. Christian throws a poor cross that misses
and Vega counters with a straight right hand. Christian lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Christian throws an overhand right that lands on Vega 's shoulder, as Vega tries to avoid the shot. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A lazy left from Christian finds it's target. Vega tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Christian was well out of range. Poor timing from Vega . Vega uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Christian.
Christian fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Christian looks to land a combination but Vega avoids it well. Christian throws a lazy right hand but Vega sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Jack Christian seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Christian gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Vega . Vega swats away the attempt to clinch by Christian. Christian displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Vega throws out the jab. The fighters circle momentarily. Christian darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Christian slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Armando Vega is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Vega scores with a nice strike. Christian uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Vega . Vega will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Christian drops Vega with a right and a left! Christian comes rushing in but Vega regains his composure and manages to keep Christian in guard.
Vega is rocked! Christian won't allow Vega to sweep him here. Christian trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Vega can do anything to dispel that myth. Vega is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Christian cracks Vega with a solid left hand. Vega is trying to keep Christian in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Vega can't keep his opponent in guard - Christian advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Vega has hold of Christian's hands but Christian slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Vega really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Christian. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Christian not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Christian takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Christian looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Christian missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Christian thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vega 's head. Christian is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Vega is trying to control but Christian manages to pass to mount!
A nice elbow there by Christian. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Christian working the ground and pound effectively.
Vega is still in real trouble! Can Christian finish him? Whack. That's a big, big shot from Christian! Vega is out cold! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Jack Christian! Jack Christian retains his light heavyweight title! After the fight, Jack Christian was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
