PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Wolter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marc Dugas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Wolter might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Rio - Duran Duran. Dugas has chosen Here Comes the Pain as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamie Wolter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marc Dugas!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dugas tests Wolter's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Wolter circles away from the clinch attempt.
Dugas checks the leg kick nicely there.
Dugas throws a nice looking combination but Wolter bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Dugas darts in trying to clinch

so Wolter counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Wolter sitting in guard here, content to control.
Dugas avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Wolter stays in close to Dugas's body and controls the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wolter drops back, looking for a kneebar! Dugas looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Dugas looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Dugas!

Wolter is looking to reverse the position.

Dugas stands up.
Dugas wants to clinch but Wolter slips to the side

and Wolter counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Wolter throwing shots but Dugas is blocking nicely.
Wolter wants to free his trapped foot but Dugas is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Wolter thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Dugas's head.

Wolter is keen to just control but Dugas is a slippery customer.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Jamie Wolter has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Wolter gets to his feet - Dugas follows without any prompting.
Dugas looks gassed!
Wolter closes the distance and clinches up with Dugas, looking for a takedown. Wolter pushes Dugas against the cage but Dugas circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Dugas moves into the clinch.

Wolter managing to block the knees to the body from Dugas.
Wolter tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Dugas misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Wolter jumps guard but Dugas turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Dugas.
Dugas lands an uppercut.
Dugas tries a knee to the head but Wolter blocks it.
Dugas landing knees to the body.
Dugas fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Dugas swings wildly with an uppercut but Wolter uses good head movement to avoid it.
Wolter is trying to drag Dugas to the mat but Dugas just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jamie Wolter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Dugas digs a right hand into Wolter's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Wolter's gas tank.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wolter has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Dugas is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Wolter has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Dugas clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Wolter will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Wolter is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Dugas knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Dugas for a finish.

That's time! Wolter's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Dugas tries to clinch there but Wolter circles away.
Dugas moves in looking to clinch but Wolter pushes him off.
Wolter tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dugas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wolter somewhat.

and Wolter counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Dugas!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dugas is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position.

Wolter breaks from Dugas's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Dugas squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Wolter has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Dugas's face.
Dugas is trying to stand.
Wolter tries to control but Dugas wriggling away.

The referee warns Dugas that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Wolter lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Wolter is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Dugas can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Wolter is working for a guillotine from mount but Dugas frees his head quite easily.

Dugas's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Jamie Wolter overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Wolter shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wolter was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Wolter cracks Dugas with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Wolter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Marc Dugas has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Wolter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
