And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Harry Emmerson!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Steve Erwin and Hugh Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McKenna avoids the head kick by Emmerson.
A punch combination from McKenna misses.

McKenna closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Emmerson looking for submissions off his back.
Emmerson is trying to maintain the position but McKenna is very close to passing his half guard.
McKenna controlling the action here.
McKenna is keen to just control but Emmerson is a slippery customer.

It looks like Jamie McKenna has been cut.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Emmerson enables McKenna to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Emmerson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
McKenna seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Emmerson has eaten all the pies!
Emmerson is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McKenna wants to stand but Emmerson has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Emmerson keeping moving, preventing McKenna from controlling successfully.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Jamie McKenna just wasn't active enough.

McKenna scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
McKenna is looking to advance position but Emmerson won't allow it.

McKenna stops Emmerson from getting back to his feet.

McKenna passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Emmerson!

McKenna goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Emmerson turns into him and now he's in McKenna's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Harry Emmerson wasn't active enough on the ground.
McKenna blocks a head kick by Emmerson.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! McKenna's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Emmerson closes this distance looking for a takedown but McKenna circles away.
Emmerson leaves McKenna with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
McKenna closes the distance and clinches up with Emmerson, looking for a takedown. McKenna pushes Emmerson against the cage but Emmerson circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Emmerson is desperately trying to improve his position but McKenna has a good base and remains in mount.
McKenna sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

McKenna jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Emmerson manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Emmerson regains half guard.

Emmerson is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Emmerson wants to get back to his feet.
McKenna has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Emmerson is breathing heavily.
Emmerson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Emmerson is squirming around, avoiding McKenna's attempts to control the action.
Emmerson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
McKenna is in the full mount, landing strikes.

McKenna takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
McKenna moves to take his opponent's back.
I would not like to be Emmerson right now.

McKenna looking for the choke but no joy.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McKenna is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Emmerson defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Emmerson trying to control the position but McKenna manages to sink in the hooks.

McKenna is working for a rear naked choke. Emmerson is not defending it well and McKenna has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Emmerson refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Emmerson's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
