Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Denny Crane! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ivan Kulakov! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Hirohito Nitta and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Crane closes this distance looking for a takedown but Kulakov circles away. Crane decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Crane is looking to take a break and control but Kulakov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Kulakov is in trouble now - Crane has advanced to mount! Crane punishing his opponent with strikes. Crane has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Kulakov is squirming around, avoiding Crane's attempts to control the action. Crane working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Crane goes for an armbar but Kulakov turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Kulakov. Kulakov throws a big right hand that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kulakov stays in close to Crane's body and controls the position. Crane is trying to keep Kulakov in close.
Kulakov wants to control from the top but Crane keeps moving. Crane looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Crane is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Crane is breathing heavily. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Crane is on top in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Kulakov not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kulakov tries to land a sweep but no joy. Crane wants to pass the guard but Kulakov is keeping the position. Kulakov wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kulakov has his feet on Crane's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Crane dodges the punch combination from Kulakov.
Nice takedown defense from Kulakov. No joy for Crane on that attempt. Crane bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Crane is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kulakov is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kulakov is looking for a sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Crane is looking to take a break and control but Kulakov is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Crane is working to tighten is grip on Kulakov's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Kulakov has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Crane is really squeezing tight and eventually Kulakov passes out! Crane breaks the hold and jumps onto the ropes to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
