Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ben Penties (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Theodore Lyndon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ben Penties looks tired to me. Hopefully he has got enough gas left in the tank to put in a good performance.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ben Penties! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Theodore Lyndon! The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lyndon shoots in and gets a takedown into Penties's guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Lyndon trying to control but Penties is working from the bottom. Lyndon won't allow Penties to sweep him here. Lyndon with a flurry of punches that miss. Lyndon postures up.
Lyndon throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lyndon trying to control but Penties is working from the bottom. Lyndon has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Penties is proving hard to escape from. Lyndon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Penties keeping moving, preventing Lyndon from controlling successfully.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Theodore Lyndon was stalling too much, according to the referee. Penties lands a nice hook to Lyndon's body. Lyndon takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Penties gets tackled into the cage by Lyndon. Lyndon maintains the clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lyndon prevents the takedown attempt.
Penties is breathing heavily. Lyndon has Penties pressed against the cage, preventing Penties from circling away and getting back to striking at range. Penties is fighting off a takedown attempt but Lyndon is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Penties to the mat. Penties regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Lyndon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Penties is keeping the position for now. Penties keeping moving, preventing Lyndon from controlling successfully. Lyndon throws a big elbow that misses. Lyndon trying to control but Penties is working from the bottom. Lyndon might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Penties kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Theodore Lyndon wasn't active enough on the ground. Penties shoots in but no luck this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lyndon shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Lyndon is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lyndon throwing shots but Penties is blocking nicely. Penties trying to control here.
Well, if Lyndon is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Penties makes his way to full guard, as Lyndon worked for a kimura.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Penties is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Lyndon preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Penties moves into side control, avoiding the strikes from Lyndon.
Lyndon is trying to control Penties's posture but Penties avoids it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penties cracks Lyndon with a big right hand but Lyndon just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Lyndon wants to control but Penties postures up. Lyndon is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Penties is staying active. Lyndon is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Lyndon trying to control from the bottom.
Lyndon is pressing down on Penties's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Lyndon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Lyndon looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Penties puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Penties is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Lyndon defends it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Theodore Lyndon dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Penties swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lyndon. Lyndon shoots in but Penties avoids the takedown attempt easily. Horrible takedown by Lyndon or perhaps it was just good defense by Penties which made him look bad. Ben Penties has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Theodore Lyndon. Lyndon misses with a right hand and Penties counters with a lovely straight right hand! Jab, jab by Penties - just one landing. Penties shoots in but no luck this time. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Lyndon gets in close and instigates a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penties drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Lyndon gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Lyndon gets a trip takedown into half guard. Lyndon trying to mount his opponent but Penties defends it. Lyndon seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Penties does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Penties wants to control but Lyndon is keeping busy and won't allow it. Lyndon works his way into side control. Lyndon tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Lyndon has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Penties is looking to regain half guard here but Lyndon keeps moving and retains side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lyndon throwing strikes but missing, from side control. Lyndon wants to control but Penties is keeping him busy. Lyndon scores with punches from side control. Lyndon grinds an elbow into Penties's temple. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lyndon is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Penties has escaped the position, nice work there. Penties is trying to improve his position. Theodore Lyndon has got the better of the ground game so far.

Penties is trying to get back to half guard. Lyndon is working Penties over with some ground and pound from side control. Lyndon decides to stand back up. Lyndon steps back and let's Penties get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lyndon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Lyndon trying to control but Penties is working from the bottom. Lyndon slips nicely into half guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Lyndon lands strikes from half guard. Nice sprawl there from Penties as Lyndon shoots in. Penties tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Lyndon shoots in and drives through. Penties sprawls well. Ben Penties is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Penties gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Lyndon content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Penties throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Penties is trying to control the position but Lyndon postures up. Lyndon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Penties is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Lyndon, into his guard. Lyndon wants to control but Penties passes easily into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Penties thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lyndon's head. Lyndon trying to control from the bottom.
Lyndon avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Penties. Lyndon works his way to full guard. Good work. Penties trying to control but Lyndon is working from the bottom. Lyndon wants to stand up but Penties is controlling him. Penties stopping the sweep attempt from Lyndon.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Lyndon avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Lyndon is looking for a triangle here but Penties uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Penties working away. Penties advances to full mount. Penties can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Lyndon is looking to escape.

Lyndon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Lyndon takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Theodore Lyndon is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Lyndon is working to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Penties breaks from Lyndon's wrist control and lands an elbow. Ben Penties has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Lyndon really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ben Penties. I think Lyndon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
