Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Rogers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Walter O Flanigan! The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and William Gold.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! O Flanigan keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Rogers misses with a hook. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rogers. Rogers fails to land the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Steve Rogers. That's going to take a lot out of him. O Flanigan takes the fight into the clinch. Rogers breaks from the clinch.
O Flanigan pulls out of a head kick attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. O Flanigan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Rogers. O Flanigan misses with a head kick.
Rogers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with O Flanigan but O Flanigan pushes him off and we're back to square one. O Flanigan tries to bum rush Rogers with a series of wild strikes but Rogers uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rogers looks to land a right hand but O Flanigan moved out of range. No luck for Rogers with that takedown attempt. Rogers shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with O Flanigan but O Flanigan pushes him off and we're back to square one. O Flanigan lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Rogers tries to keep at a distance but O Flanigan has taken the fight into the clinch. O Flanigan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rogers.
Rogers is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
That's two minutes gone in the round. O Flanigan pulls guard effortlessly. Rogers preventing the sweep. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. O Flanigan pulls Rogers in close to his closed guard and prevents Rogers from doing any damage or advancing position. O Flanigan looking to control.
Rogers drops back, looking for a kneebar! O Flanigan looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. O Flanigan looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from O Flanigan!
That's three minutes gone in the round. O Flanigan is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Rogers knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. O Flanigan in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. O Flanigan trying to control the action but Rogers is working from the bottom. Rogers is looking to regain half guard here but O Flanigan keeps moving and retains side control. Rogers looks to move to half guard but instead O Flanigan has passed into mount! Damn! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. O Flanigan controlling from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Walter O Flanigan dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
O Flanigan pivots, looking for a leg kick but Rogers is out of range and O Flanigan settles back down. Rogers throws the left hand but O Flanigan avoids the punch easily. Rogers tries to clinch up and O Flanigan counters by moving into the clinch. Rogers letting O Flanigan take a breather here. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rogers tries to score a body lock takedown but O Flanigan shows good agility there to stay on his feet. O Flanigan is pressed up against the cage. Rogers has hold of a leg and is looking to drag O Flanigan down to the mat. O Flanigan avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. A head kick misses from O Flanigan. O Flanigan tries a low kick but Rogers avoids it.

Rogers closes the distance but O Flanigan moves to the side and O Flanigan moves into the clinch. O Flanigan stalls. Rogers goes for a takedown in the clinch but O Flanigan prevents it.

That's two minutes gone in the round. O Flanigan stalks Rogers and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rogers's face. Rogers staggers backwards, shaken. O Flanigan looks to land a combination. Rogers sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. O Flanigan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. O Flanigan throws a sloppy head kick and Rogers moves out of range easily. Rogers tries to clinch but O Flanigan moves away and O Flanigan counters into the clinch. Nicely done. O Flanigan lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage. Rogers prevents O Flanigan from breaking the clinch. O Flanigan gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Rogers.
Rogers has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. O Flanigan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. O Flanigan lands a left hand.

O Flanigan has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rogers regains guard immediately. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. O Flanigan stays in close to Rogers's body and controls the position. O Flanigan loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Rogers is trying to control the position but O Flanigan postures up. O Flanigan is stalling in the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. O Flanigan won't allow Rogers to sweep him here. O Flanigan must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Rogers is looking for a triangle but O Flanigan pushes his legs off easily.

Walter O Flanigan showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

O Flanigan scores with a couple of short elbows. O Flanigan landing a few strikes. O Flanigan tries to advance to mount but can't. O Flanigan in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Rogers manages to work his way to half guard, despite O Flanigan's best efforts. O Flanigan is taking a breather. Rogers says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. The fighters are battling for position here. Rogers manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. O Flanigan won't allow Rogers to get back to his feet. O Flanigan is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Rogers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in O Flanigan's guard. Rogers postures up.
O Flanigan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. O Flanigan seems keen to control Rogers's posture.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Rogers thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. O Flanigan keeping moving, preventing Rogers from controlling successfully. O Flanigan looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
And that's the end of the fight! Walter O Flanigan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well O Flanigan has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
