Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sunny Day (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marti Pico (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sunny Day! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marti Pico! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Eliza Hachem and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Some wild striking there from Day.
Sunny Day seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Day tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Day throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Pico closes the distance and clinches up with Day, looking for a takedown. Pico pushes Day against the cage but Day circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Day shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Pico as he avoids it easily. Day stuffs the takedown. Day fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Pico bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Day is trying to get back to half guard. Pico looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pico has control of an arm but Day manages to advance to Pico's back! Day cracks Pico with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Pico from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.
Day scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Pico is looking for a way out. Can Pico hold on?! Day is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here.
Pico preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Day. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Day punches the canvas rather than the man. Day tightening his grip on Pico, looking for the choke. Pico tries to roll but Day sticks to his back.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. A lull in the action here.
Day is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Pico is defending well though. Day let's go of the attempt for now. Day is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Pico defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Pico manages to reverse the position and now he's in Day's guard. Nice work there by Pico.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Day is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Pico stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Day swivels though and keeps the full guard. Day manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Day trying to control but Pico is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sunny Day dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Day shoots in and drives through. Pico sprawls well. Day closes the distance and clinches up with Pico, looking for a takedown. Day pushes Pico against the cage but Pico circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Day shoots in but no luck this time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sunny Day. That's going to take a lot out of him. Day misses with a takedown and Pico counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pico. Day wants to stand but Pico is controlling the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pico tries to free his leg and advance position but Day is retaining full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Day wants to get back to his feet but Pico passes into half guard.
Day makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Pico tries to score a power double leg takedown but Day sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Pico somewhat. Pico misses with a takedown attempt and Day counters with a shoot takedown. Pico fights it but they end up in guard. Pico keeping moving, preventing Day from controlling successfully. Pico throws his legs up looking for a submission but Day uses it to pass to side control.
Pico is breathing heavily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pico sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard. Day is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Pico doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Day. Pico looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Day sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Pico defending well though.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Day perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Pico is defending against the submission attempts here by Day.
Day is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Pico has managed to free his arm - good work. Day is trying to control. Pico wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Day lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Pico looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Pico is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Day pulls his head out easily. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Day seems to be working for a kimura but Pico defends the submission attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sunny Day dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Pico with a lazy takedown attempt and Day counters by moving into the clinch. Day has clasped his hands together around Pico's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Day working the body and head with strikes. Day is working to tighten is grip on Pico's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Pico has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Day is really squeezing tight and eventually Pico passes out! Day breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
