PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marshall Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Clark Devereaux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Harris comes into the arena with Kiss Me I'm Shit Faced blaring out of the sound system. Marshall Harris could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Clark Devereaux's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Marshall Harris!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clark Devereaux!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Harris avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Devereaux looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
The fight stays on the outside here - Harris looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Harris swinging wildly here.

Harris gets a double leg takedown into Devereaux's guard.
Harris throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Harris throws a big elbow that misses.
Devereaux keeping full guard, as Harris tries to pass.
Harris is in close to Devereaux's body, working some short punches and elbows.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Devereaux swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Devereaux not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Harris keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Devereaux's head.
Devereaux avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Harris tries to stand but Devereaux is controlling from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Devereaux can't keep his opponent in guard - Harris advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Harris is looking for a kimura here.
Harris trying to control the action but Devereaux is working from the bottom.
Harris has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Harris trying to pass the guard but Devereaux defending well.

Harris blocks the strikes from Devereaux.
Harris is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Devereaux!

Harris connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Devereaux should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Harris scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Devereaux?
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Harris cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Harris lands a big shot there that rocks Devereaux but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Devereaux tries to hold on but Harris postures up.
Devereaux is in a horrible position here. Harris smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


Devereaux is rocked!
Harris tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Devereaux tries to lock up and control but Harris gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Marshall Harris dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Harris tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Devereaux swivels and escapes.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Devereaux enables Harris to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Devereaux manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Harris wants to control from the top but Devereaux keeps moving.
Devereaux is wriggling around but Harris manages to pass to half guard.
Harris not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Devereaux is breathing heavily.
Harris is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Harris has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris with the ground and pound from mount.
Harris trying to control but Devereaux is having none of it.
Harris landing strikes from the mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Harris trying to control but Devereaux is having none of it.
Harris breaks from Devereaux's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Harris working Devereaux over with strikes here.
Devereaux is still in real trouble! Can Harris finish him?
Harris trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Devereaux seems to have recovered his senses.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Harris prevents Devereaux from getting the reversal.
Marshall Harris overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Harris postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Devereaux in real trouble here! The ref calls for Devereaux to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Marshall Harris!
Marshall Harris really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that SPARTA FIGHTWARE-GTI logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
