Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Lytle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alun James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Carry Me Home. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, James Lytle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alun James!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lytle lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but James circles away quickly and effectively.
James throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lytle on the side of the head.
James moves out of range of the leg kick from Lytle.
Lytle throws a quick inside leg kick.
Lytle fails in his attempt to clinch.
James avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Lytle steps to the side to avoid the strikes from James.
James lands a slapping body shot.
A thudding body kick lands there by Lytle!
James checks a leg kick nicely.
James misses with a double jab.
James throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lytle's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Lytle duly obliges.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Lytle is trying to break the clinch but James is controlling him.
James tries to pull guard but Lytle won't allow it.

James has Lytle pressed against the cage, preventing Lytle from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Lytle blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Lytle wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
James is trying to maintain a safe position but Lytle gets an underhook and turns James into the cage.

Lytle breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
James keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Lytle throws the kick towards the body but James avoids it.
James connects with a body shot that sends Lytle's belly button to the back.
Lytle misses the shot to the body.
Lytle checks the leg kick.
Lytle dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on James. That did some damage!

Lytle takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
James lands with a thumping leg kick.
James jabs Lytle right on the nose. Lytle blinks but takes it well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
James misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Lytle.
Lytle throws a right hand that James ducks under and follows up with a left that James also avoids with ease.
Lytle takes a swing at James's ribcage but misses.
Lytle walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

James lands a lovely overhand right.
James pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Lytle back to the cage. James follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Lytle tries a head kick but it misses.
James swings and misses with a hook to the body.

and James counters with a straight right hand.

Lytle throws a body punch but James moves out of range.
A looping hook to the body misses from James. Lytle does a little dance to reset his feet.

James Lytle is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
James scores with a one two! Lytle had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

No joy there for Lytle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
James moves out of range of the strikes.
A cross from James lands.
James jabs at Lytle's body.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Lytle closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Lytle tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Lytle lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Lytle tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. James manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Lytle misses with a body kick.
James scores with a nice body kick.
Lytle will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lytle bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps James's head backwards.
A solid leg kick lands there for Lytle.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts James, as that shot connected.
Nice straight punches there by James. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of James.
Lytle throws a combination but it was largely blocked by James.
Lytle is looking to wear down James with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
James scores with a nice right hand.
Lytle throws a push kick but James slaps the foot to one side.
No joy there for Lytle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Lytle tries to move into range but James moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
James is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Lytle had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
James lands with a cross.
James connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
James ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Lytle misses with the combination.
Lytle is breathing heavily.

James looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
James seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Lytle does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

James slips a nice elbow through Lytle's hands, connecting with Lytle's forehead.
James has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
James takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Alun James dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

James throws a leg kick which misses Lytle's front leg but catches the back leg as Lytle tries to avoid it.
James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lytle moves away.
James Lytle is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Lytle throws out a loose jab but James uses good head movement to avoid it.

and James counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lytle!
James lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Lytle hang on?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
James avoids the attempt from Lytle to control.
James pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Oh Lytle is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

James cracks Lytle with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Oooh a big shot lands for James! Lytle is out! The ref dives in to save him from more punishment!
