Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mike Martinez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Martinez might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Back Up. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Barnes!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes tries to clinch

and Martinez counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Barnes's guard now.
Martinez showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Martinez postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Martinez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Barnes, up you get!

and Martinez counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Barnes is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Barnes is looking to control Martinez's arms but Martinez gets an underhook and turns him. Now Barnes has his back to the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Barnes wants to clinch

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Martinez is controlling him.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Martinez connects with a nice short shot to Barnes's temple.

Martinez has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Martinez, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mike Martinez decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
