Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Didier Baeyens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Takanori Kawajiri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Takanori Kawajiri is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Didier Baeyens! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Takanori Kawajiri! The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Shigeki Sano.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Baeyens fails with a takedown attempt. Takanori Kawajiri seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kawajiri checks a leg kick. Baeyens shoots in for a takedown but Kawajiri shows good takedown defense. Horrible takedown by Kawajiri or perhaps it was just good defense by Baeyens which made him look bad. Baeyens doesn't manage to clinch there - Kawajiri circles away.
Baeyens motions for Kawajiri to come forward. Baeyens throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Baeyens misses with a kick to the body.
Kawajiri checks the leg kick. Kawajiri misses with a two punch combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kawajiri shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Baeyens counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kawajiri won't be happy with that. Kawajiri is trying to get back to half guard. Baeyens wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kawajiri keeps working. Kawajiri is looking for a sweep. Baeyens is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kawajiri has escaped the position, nice work there. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Baeyens trying to control the action but Kawajiri is working from the bottom. Kawajiri is looking to regain half guard here but Baeyens keeps moving and retains side control. Baeyens tries for a kimura but Kawajiri is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Baeyens is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kawajiri knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Baeyens is breathing heavily. Baeyens wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kawajiri, who protects the arm well. Baeyens working away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Baeyens has hold of Kawajiri's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Kawajiri tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Baeyens cranks the arm and Kawajiri screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Kawajiri, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Didier Baeyens!
