Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ville Apila (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Radzimanowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Apila comes to the cage accompanied by Distance ( OF OUR SKILLS). Radzimanowski is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ennio Morricone - Ecstasy of Gold . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Radzimanowski shoots in looking for a takedown but Apila manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Radzimanowski's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Radzimanowski looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Radzimanowski keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Apila.
Radzimanowski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Apila tries to clinch up.
Radzimanowski doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Apila counters with a single leg into guard. Radzimanowski didn't expect that.
Ville Apila has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Radzimanowski.
Radzimanowski is looking to stand up but Apila isn't so interested in that idea.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Apila looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Radzimanowski with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Apila looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Radzimanowski looks like he's trying to stand up.
Apila looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Apila misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Apila lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Apila postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Radzimanowski looks a forlorn figure.

Apila is working for a guillotine from mount but Radzimanowski frees his head quite easily.
Apila jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Radzimanowski is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Radzimanowski and Apila has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Apila throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Radzimanowski was covering up waiting for the punch and Apila finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Apila has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Radzimanowski wants to get back to his feet but Apila drags him back down.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Apila here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.

Radzimanowski dives in and grabs Apila's left leg, looking for a takedown. Apila pushes down on Radzimanowski's head and hops out.

Apila leaves Radzimanowski with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Radzimanowski shoots in looking for a takedown. Apila tries to sprawl out of it but Radzimanowski keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Apila manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Apila is working for a rear naked choke. Radzimanowski is not defending it well and Apila has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Radzimanowski refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Radzimanowski's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:53 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Ville Apila!
