Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Fabio Souza! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John McMillan! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Luis Engracia and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Souza throws a nice looking combination but McMillan bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts McMillan, as that shot connected.
Souza throws an ugly left hook that misses
and McMillan moves into the clinch. McMillan pulls Souza into guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Souza wants to pass the guard but McMillan is keeping the position. McMillan has his hands on Souza's head, controlling the position. McMillan tries to land a sweep but no joy. McMillan pulls Souza in close to prevent any damage. McMillan trying to control the position.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. John McMillan wasn't active enough on the ground. Souza throws out a loose jab but McMillan uses good head movement to avoid it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Souza looks to score with a jab to the body but McMillan is just out of range. McMillan keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Souza. McMillan has a takedown stuffed. Souza looks to land a right hand but McMillan moved out of range. McMillan scores a takedown into full mount! Souza on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Souza tries to get out of the position. Souza is in all sorts of trouble here.
Souza just holding on. McMillan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.

Souza is bucking up trying to escape but McMillan cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Souza is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Souza keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McMillan with good strikes from the mount here! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Souza holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as McMillan tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
McMillan throwing strikes but Souza bucks up and reverses the position. He's now in guard on top. Souza forces his way into half guard. Souza uses his free foot to push down on McMillan's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for McMillan. McMillan manages to regain half guard. Good work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Souza is pressing down on McMillan's thigh, looking to free his foot. McMillan is holding on for now. McMillan tries to get to full guard but Souza has control of the leg. McMillan is staying active underneath Souza, who seems content to just control the action from this position. McMillan misses with some strikes from the bottom.
McMillan is trying to control Souza's posture. Souza takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for McMillan! Souza is rotating here... this could be the end... McMillan is out! Souza has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
