Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Gerard Loyack ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jd Almanez! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A cross from Loyack lands. Loyack takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
It looks like Gerard Loyack has been cut. Jd Almanez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Almanez misses with a leg kick and Loyack counters with a two punch combo. Almanez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Loyack counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Almanez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Loyack is one step ahead there. Loyack trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Almanez pulls Loyack in close to his closed guard and prevents Loyack from doing any damage or advancing position. Almanez is trying to control the position but Loyack postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Loyack wanted to stand there but Almanez had control of the position. Almanez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jd Almanez was stalling too much, according to the referee. Loyack ducks right into an uppercut from Almanez. Good standup being displayed there by Loyack as he connects with a hook. Loyack stuffs the takedown. The fight moves into the clinch position. Almanez keeps control of Loyack as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Loyack gets underhooks to prevent Almanez's takedown attempt.
Almanez tries a knee to the head but Loyack blocks it.

Gerard Loyack has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jd Almanez. Almanez tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Loyack avoids it. Loyack has Almanez pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Almanez manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Loyack breaks the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Almanez moves to clinch but Loyack breaks away and Loyack counters with a stiff right hand. Almanez throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Loyack on the side of the head. Sloppy strikes from Loyack . Those never looked like landing. Almanez is looking to clinch. Almanez swats away the attempt to clinch by Loyack . Loyack moves out of range of the strikes. Almanez misses with the combination.
Almanez tries to clinch but Loyack is having none of it. Almanez misses with a body punch
and Loyack counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Almanez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Almanez tries to keep at a distance but Loyack has taken the fight into the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Loyack takes an elbow to the temple. Almanez is trying to push Loyack away but Loyack has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere. Almanez misses with a punch to the body.
Almanez misses with the head strike.
Almanez tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Loyack 's elbow. The referee is keeping an eye on Loyack - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Loyack pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Almanez swings for the body but Loyack moves out of range.
Loyack dodges the punch combination from Almanez.
Almanez walks into a straight right hand from Loyack . The fighters circling - Almanez throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Almanez throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Loyack lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Loyack is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Almanez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
The fight stays on the outside here - Almanez looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Almanez throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Loyack avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

and Loyack counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Almanez looking for a sweep. Not yet Almanez, not yet. Loyack tries to stand but Almanez is controlling from the bottom. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Loyack is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Loyack advances to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Gerard Loyack will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Gerard Loyack 's cut. That's time! Loyack 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Almanez tries to score with a low kick but Loyack moves his leg out of the way. Almanez throws a series of punches but Loyack moves out of range. Loyack uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Almanez.
Almanez misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Loyack .
A telegraphed right hand from Almanez misses the target. Almanez moves in looking to clinch but Loyack pushes him off. Loyack scores with the left hand. Almanez knows he should have avoided that one. The fighters circling - Loyack throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Almanez looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Loyack ! Almanez with shots to the head and body - Loyack looks very uncomfortable down there. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Loyack doing his best to control the position. Can he escape? The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Loyack takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Almanez working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Loyack tries to hold on but Almanez postures up. Loyack is in all sorts of trouble here.
Loyack 's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up. Loyack on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Loyack tries to get out of the position. Almanez has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Loyack 's face.
Gerard Loyack 's cut is getting worse. Almanez has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Almanez throwing strikes here but Loyack is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Loyack is in a horrible position here. Almanez smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Gerard Loyack 's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Almanez breaks from Loyack 's wrist control and lands an elbow. Oh Loyack is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Jeez, Gerard Loyack 's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Almanez loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Loyack scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Almanez land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Almanez stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jd Almanez! Our winner, Jd Almanez, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
