PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Renato Barral (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeff Hatton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatton comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Da Rockwilder by Redman & Method Man kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Jeff Hatton has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jeff Hatton!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barral closes the distance and clinches up with Hatton, looking for a takedown. Barral pushes Hatton against the cage but Hatton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Hatton will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Barral throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hatton.
Barral checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Barral misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hatton leaves Barral with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Barral takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Hatton fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Hatton shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hatton was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hatton looking to control but Barral is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Hatton wants to take a breather but Barral is having none of it.
Hatton passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Barral!

Hatton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Hatton bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Barral's guard.

Barral is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hatton defends well.
Hatton postures up and lands a big shot to Barral's brow.
Hatton wants to pass the guard but Barral is keeping the position.
Hatton passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Hatton tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Barral seems to have got his legs back now.

Hatton lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Hatton is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Hatton takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Hatton wants to pass to mount but Barral is defending the position.

Barral is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hatton pulls his head out easily.

Hatton is taking a breather. Barral says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Barral is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hatton pulls his head out easily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hatton seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Barral does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hatton is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Hatton shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Barral is looking to improve his position but Hatton isn't that keen on the idea.
Hatton cracks Barral with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Hatton can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Barral is looking to escape.
Hatton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Barral. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hatton is in the full mount, landing strikes.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hatton is on top in guard.

Hatton sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Barral's guard.

Hatton seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Hatton got a little sloppy there for a moment and Barral has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hatton has managed to get both his arms back between Barral's legs - danger averted.

Hatton lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Barral circles away quickly and effectively.

Hatton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Barral sprawls well initially but Hatton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Hatton lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Barral down.

Well Hatton has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
