Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gelo Abel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Clarence Morrow!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morrow falls off balance throwing a combination

and Abel counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Morrow has had enough of the clinch but Abel keeps him there for the moment.
Morrow working aggressively here.

Abel has hold of one of Morrow's legs. Morrow is fighting the takedown attempt but Abel gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Abel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Morrow swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Abel won't allow Morrow to get back to his feet.
Morrow tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Abel wants to pass the guard but Morrow is keeping the position.
Morrow wants to control the position but Abel says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Abel is taking a breather. Morrow says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morrow is trying to stand back up but Abel is controlling him

Abel is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Morrow is looking for a sweep. Abel is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Still in half guard, Abel seems content to control.
Morrow keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Abel wants to work for an arm triangle but Morrow is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Abel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Abel slips a nice elbow through Morrow's hands, connecting with Morrow's forehead.
Abel content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Abel is working for a submission of some sort.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Morrow wants to improve his position but Abel is controlling well.

Abel postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Morrow to stand up.
Abel misses with a few strikes there.
Clarence Morrow seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Abel closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Morrow did well to prevent Abel getting side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Abel postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Morrow to stand up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Abel looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Morrow wants to get back to full guard but Abel has mounted him!
Morrow looks gassed!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Abel moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Morrow has worked his arm free - good work by Morrow!
Abel in side control lands a decent elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Morrow gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Morrow wants to control but Abel is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gelo Abel dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Morrow tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Abel drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Morrow tries to escape but Abel is in control.
Abel staying calm.
Morrow wants to get back to his feet but Abel is dominant here and he's now got Morrow's back!
Gelo Abel overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Good control from Abel.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Morrow trying to control but not successfully.
Abel keeps control of the position easily here as Morrow tries to buck him off.
Abel's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Abel is hanging on to Morrow's back as he tries to escape.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Morrow has the hand control, trying to stop the rear naked choke.
Morrow is breathing heavily.

Abel is working on the RNC. He looks like he's got it but Morrow won't tap... Oh, he's out! The ref rips Abel off his unconscious opponent!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:49 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gelo Abel!
