Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Timmy Riddle! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sher Wood! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Wesley Smith and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wood shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Wood was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Riddle working to try and regain half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wood lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Riddle hang on? Wood wants to take Riddle's back but he can't do it this time. Riddle really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Wood with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Wood working for a submission but Riddle is keeping him at bay. Riddle knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Wood on the ground. Wood is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Riddle to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Riddle shrugs it off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Riddle tries to get back to half guard but can't. Wood working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Riddle sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Wood is working for a kimura but Riddle is defending it quite comfortably.
Wood looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Wood tries to pass the half guard into mount. Riddle knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Riddle looking for submissions off his back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Riddle is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Wood pulls his head out easily. Riddle looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Riddle tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Wood!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sher Wood! Sher Wood was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
