Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Diego Santana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Patroclo Cocles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Santana comes into the arena with Apaga mais não bate( Jiu-jitsu ) blaring out of the sound system. Patroclo Cocles will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Diego Santana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Patroclo Cocles! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cocles throws the kick towards the body but Santana avoids it. Cocles moves out of range of the leg kick from Santana. Cocles tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Santana misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Patroclo Cocles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Santana takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Sloppy strikes from Cocles. Those never looked like landing. Cocles throws a right and a left that Santana avoids nicely. Cocles looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Santana tries a head kick but it misses.

Cocles thows a body shot but no joy. Santana blocks a head kick by Cocles.
Cocles misses with a double jab
and Santana counters with a single leg into guard. Cocles didn't expect that. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Cocles being controlled here, momentarily.

Diego Santana has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Cocles lands the left hand. Cocles looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Cocles throws a head kick that misses. Santana tries a head kick but it misses.
Santana closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Cocles to the mat! Cocles manages to get full guard. Santana cracks Cocles with a solid left hand. Cocles looks gassed! Santana is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Santana content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santana controlling from the top position.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Diego Santana just wasn't active enough. Sloppy strikes from Cocles. Those never looked like landing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana shoots in and gets a takedown into Cocles's guard. Santana looking to pass the guard. Cocles really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Santana. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Santana seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
We're going to have a standup here because Diego Santana wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Santana throws a hook but Cocles avoids it easily. Santana throws the kick towards the body but Cocles avoids it. Santana thows a left - swing and a miss! Cocles misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Santana rushes Cocles and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Cocles is trying to break the clinch but Santana has him pressed against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Santana lands an uppercut. Santana has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Cocles uses from the top position. Santana seems keen to control Cocles's posture.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Diego Santana wasn't doing enough on the ground. Santana tries a head kick but it misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cocles throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Cocles lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Santana circles away quickly and effectively.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Santana gets in close and instigates a clinch. Santana successfully pulls guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Santana dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Cocles pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cocles throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Cocles lands with a kick to the ribs.
Santana looking to score a takedown here. Cocles is defending well but Santana drives through and ends up in Cocles's guard. Santana works over Cocles with some ground and pound from guard. Santana decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cocles, up you get! Diego Santana is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Santana avoids a punch combination nicely.
Cocles throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Cocles throws a head kick but Santana moves out of range.

No joy there for Cocles, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Santana bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Santana looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana stands up. Santana throws a body kick that misses. Santana closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Cocles's guard. Santana missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santana is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Diego Santana. Santana scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Cocles stops Santana from passing to mount. Santana in side control lands a decent elbow. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Santana controlling the position from side mount. Santana looks up at the clock and then as Cocles takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Santana smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cocles gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there! Santana with the ground and pound from mount. Santana landing strikes from the mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Santana controlling the position easily from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Santana stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Santana shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Cocles manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Santana controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Diego Santana dominated that second round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Santana drives through with a takedown into guard. Santana gets to his feet - Cocles follows without any prompting. Cocles throws a sloppy head kick and Santana moves out of range easily. Cocles misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Cocles gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cocles wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Santana manages to pass to side control. Cocles takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Santana sitting and controlling from the half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Santana not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Santana is nestled in close to Cocles, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Santana content to control rather than advance. Santana is working for a kimura but Cocles is defending it quite comfortably.
Santana is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Cocles has managed to free his arm - good work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Santana content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Santana decides to stand and escape the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Santana moves into the clinch. Santana avoiding damage as Cocles throws knees to the body.
The referee calls for Santana to work.
Santana is leaning against Cocles and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Cocles wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Santana has him pressed against the cage. Santana gets control of Cocles's arms and successfully pulls guard. Santana will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Santana has his hands on Cocles's head, controlling the position. Patroclo Cocles has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Diego Santana is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Some bone on bone action there as Santana checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
And that's the end of the fight! Diego Santana showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Santana, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
