Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack The Ripper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Javier Torbett!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shigeki Sano and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torbett fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt The Ripper.
Torbett keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Torbett is looking to clinch but The Ripper is avoiding it.
Torbett tries to clinch there but The Ripper circles away.
Torbett scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Torbett tries to close the distance and clinch but The Ripper swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Torbett is pressed up against the cage. The Ripper has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Torbett down to the mat. Torbett avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Torbett uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from The Ripper.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Torbett is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Torbett can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as The Ripper controls the pace.
The Ripper seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Torbett for as long as he can get away with.

Torbett is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. The Ripper is aware though and is defending well.

Torbett really doesn't want to stay on the ground with The Ripper. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The Ripper postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Torbett looks a forlorn figure.

The Ripper's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
