PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between sucre jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dog Catcher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dog Catcher struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 146.5lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, sucre jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Dog Catcher!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Ian Loll and Alec Ball.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Catcher will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
jackson shoots in looking for a takedown. Catcher tries to sprawl out of it but jackson keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Catcher manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
jackson moves in looking to clinch but Catcher pushes him off.
Catcher shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and jackson counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Catcher looks gassed!
jackson works a leg free and moves into half guard.
jackson drops an elbow to the side of Catcher's head.

jackson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

jackson wants to free his trapped foot but Catcher is holding on for dear life with his legs.

jackson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Catcher is squirming around, avoiding jackson's attempts to control the action.

jackson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Catcher is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

BOOM! jackson connects with a massive shot to the dome!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, jackson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
jackson is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

The referee warns jackson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Catcher misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Catcher is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, jackson has managed to escape the submission attempt.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

jackson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Catcher has control of jackson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and jackson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

A close second round but Dog Catcher will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!



Catcher shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in jackson's guard.
jackson doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
jackson shoots for a double leg takedown but Catcher sprawls well. He's pushed jackson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Catcher wants to pass the guard but jackson is keeping the position.
Catcher postures up in jackson's guard and throws a big left but jackson blocks it.

Catcher drops back looking for a leg! jackson is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and jackson manages to kick Catcher off! Catcher jumps back into jackson's guard.
jackson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Catcher manages to get himself to full guard.
Catcher wants to sweep but no luck.
jackson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Catcher swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Catcher lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for jackson!

I would just about give that final round to Dog Catcher.
I think Catcher has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
