Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gumby Pokey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Mark Coleman! The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pokey wants to clinch but Coleman slips to the side and Coleman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. No luck with that takedown attempt from Pokey. Coleman is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Pokey. Pokey has his takedown stuffed and Pokey takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Pokey with a poor takedown and Coleman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gumby Pokey. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pokey fails with an attempt to clinch.
Pokey slips a straight right by Coleman. Pokey shoots and misses and Coleman counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Pokey thinking. Pokey dives in and grabs Coleman's left leg, looking for a takedown. Coleman pushes down on Pokey's head and hops out. Pokey with a lazy takedown attempt and Coleman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Coleman displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pokey throws out the jab. Coleman scores with a punch to the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pokey tries to clinch up and Coleman connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Coleman throws a jab when Pokey was well out of range. Coleman lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Coleman keeps the fight on the outside. Pokey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Coleman counters with a straight right hand. Pokey has his takedown stuffed and Coleman counters with a stiff right hand. Coleman leaves Pokey with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Pokey is breathing heavily. Pokey moves in looking to clinch but Coleman pushes him off.

Pokey shoots in looking for a takedown but Coleman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pokey's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Pokey with a poor takedown letting Coleman counter with a right hand. Coleman throws a looping overhand right but Pokey ducks down to avoid it. Coleman loads up on a big right hand but Pokey slips the punch. Pokey tries to close the distance and clinch but Coleman swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Coleman might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Coleman feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Pokeys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Coleman connects with a good right hand that stumbles Pokey. Pokey circles away out of range and recomposes himself. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pokey shoots and misses and Coleman counters with a straight right hand. Gumby Pokey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Coleman looks to land a right hand but Pokey moved out of range. Coleman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Pokey sees it coming and avoids it easily. Coleman throws a hook to the side of Pokey's head but Pokey sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Coleman is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Pokey had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Donk. Coleman catches Pokey right on the button with a cross.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Coleman with a hook. Coleman throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Coleman throws a jab when Pokey was well out of range. Pokey shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Coleman as he avoids it easily. Pokey on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Coleman looks to throw the jab but Pokey is out of range. Pokey takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Nice sprawl there from Coleman as Pokey shoots in. Coleman keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Coleman misses with a hook. Pokey doesn't succeed with the takedown and Coleman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A cross from Coleman lands. Coleman dips to his left and cracks Pokey with an uppercut! A big right from Coleman misses. Pokey uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Coleman. Coleman misses with a hook. Coleman misses with an uppercut. Pokey saw that one coming. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Coleman throws a nice looking combination but Pokey bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Coleman lands with an uppercut that bounces Pokey off the cage and back into range. Coleman waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Pokey. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pokey doesn't succeed with the takedown and Coleman counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Nice defenses there by Coleman. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mark Coleman dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Pokey tries for a takedown but Coleman sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Pokey shoots in for a double leg but Coleman sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Pokey looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Coleman! We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Pokey trying to control but Coleman is having none of it. Pokey wants to finish this one by submission but Coleman is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Pokey. Coleman is trying to stand up. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Pokey throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Coleman tries to buck Pokey off but he can't manage it. Pokey can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Coleman is looking to escape. Coleman avoids a series of strikes thrown by Pokey.
Coleman is trying to stand up. Pokey trying to control but he's not successful this time. Pokey is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Coleman is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Poor strikes thrown by Pokey there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pokey jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Coleman is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Coleman and Pokey has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Pokey wants to lay and pray for a moment but Coleman keeps working. Pokey throws an elbow but Coleman slips to the side and avoids it well. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pokey stands up and beckons Coleman to his feet. Coleman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pokey.
Mark Coleman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pokey ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Coleman missing with a left hand there. Pokey was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Horrible takedown by Pokey or perhaps it was just good defense by Coleman which made him look bad. Pokey moves away from the strike by Coleman. Pokey misses with a takedown attempt and Pokey takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Pokey checks the leg kick. Pokey walks into a left hand. Coleman moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Pokey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown enabling Coleman to counter with a crisp jab. Pokey closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Coleman throws an overhand right that lands on Pokey's shoulder, as Pokey tries to avoid the shot. Pokey slips a jab from Coleman. Coleman throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pokey on the side of the head. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Pokey gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Coleman. Mark Coleman is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Pokey shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Coleman counters with a three punch combo that has Pokey backing up. Pokey nods at Coleman to acknowledge the strikes.
And that's the end of the fight! Mark Coleman comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Coleman winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
