And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Julius Steel!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel throws a right and a left that both miss.
VonQulik misses with a two punch combination.
Steel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by VonQulik.
Steel throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Steel looks to land a body kick but VonQulik moved away.
VonQulik scores with a jab. Steel acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Steel lands with a good body shot.
Steel sizes up VonQulik with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Steel throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Steel tries to bum rush VonQulik with a series of wild strikes but VonQulik uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

VonQulik ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Steel moves away.

VonQulik changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Steel looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

VonQulik wants to control but Steel is keeping him busy.

VonQulik works to advance to full mount. Steel defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
VonQulik postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Steel looks a forlorn figure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Steel tries to hold on but VonQulik pushes him away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
VonQulik lands a nice shot to the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Julius Steel will probably get the nod.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Steel takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

VonQulik throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Steel.

VonQulik closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Steel quickly recovers to half guard.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
VonQulik not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
VonQulik content to control rather than advance.
VonQulik has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Steel is looking to control VonQulik's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Steel avoid being mounted?
VonQulik throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

VonQulik slows the pace down in half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Steel wants to control but VonQulik is keeping busy.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Steel can do anything to dispel that myth.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
VonQulik works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Julius Steel seems to be getting the better of the standup.
VonQulik dodges the punch combination from Steel.
Steel rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but VonQulik moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Steel throws a combination that misses
and VonQulik counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Steel on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Steel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but VonQulik moves away.
Steel closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

VonQulik cracks Steel with a big right hand but Steel just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
VonQulik has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
This has been an exciting period of action!
VonQulik postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
VonQulik landing strikes.
VonQulik is looking to take a break and control but Steel is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
VonQulik misses with the ground and pound.
Steel is trying to improve his position.

VonQulik lands a decent elbow from side control.
Steel avoids any damage from the ground and pound of VonQulik.
Steel striking from the bottom but nothing landed.
VonQulik working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
You can see the frustration on Steel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
VonQulik has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Steel!

VonQulik takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Steel is in a horrible position here. VonQulik smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Steel is squirming around, avoiding VonQulik's attempts to control the action.

VonQulik looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Steel tries to lock up and control but VonQulik gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

VonQulik has isolated one of Steel's arms. Steel looking to fight him off but VonQulik twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
