The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oscuru throws a body kick that misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from Oscuru. Rua does a little dance to reset his feet.
Rua misses with a two punch combination.
Oscuru punishes Rua's body with a nice straight punch.
Nice straight punches there by Oscuru. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Oscuru.

It looks like Mauricio Rua has been cut.
Mauricio Rua seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rua moves out of range of the body kick from Oscuru.
Rua shoots in and drives through. Oscuru sprawls well.
Rua throws an overhand right that lands on Oscuru's shoulder, as Oscuru tries to avoid the shot.
Oscuru pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Rua throws a body punch but Oscuru moves out of range.
Rua shoots in for a takedown but Oscuru shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Oscuru fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Rua.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oscuru misses with an elbow over the top.

Oscuru pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the ropes.

Rua is working for a takedown up against the ropes. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Rua has picked Oscuru up - he's going for a ride! Rua dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
Oscuru looks like he's trying to stand up.

Rua is keen to just control but Oscuru is a slippery customer.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Oscuru can do anything to dispel that myth.

Rua thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Rua wants to lay and pray for a moment but Oscuru keeps working.

Oscuru really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rua. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Rua is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Oscuru doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Rua.

Rua winds up and cracks Oscuru with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Oscuru scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Rua manages to mount him!
Oscuru is desperately trying to improve his position but Rua has a good base and remains in mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

It looks like Light Oscuru has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oscuru can't escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's time! Rua's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Oscuru throws a leg kick which misses Rua's front leg but catches the back leg as Rua tries to avoid it.

A slapping leg kick lands for Oscuru.
Oscuru swings for the body but Rua moves out of range.
Oscuru throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Rua pushes Oscuru up against the ropes in a clinch.
Oscuru lands a hook that snaps the head of Rua backwards.
Rua avoids a wild elbow strike from Oscuru.
Oscuru blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Rua tries a knee to the head but Oscuru blocks it.
Rua pushes off an throws an elbow but Oscuru leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the ropes.
Oscuru lands a right hand that snaps the head of Rua backwards.
A right handed body shot lands from Oscuru.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Oscuru is pressed up against the ropes. Rua has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Oscuru down to the mat. Oscuru avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Rua is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Oscuru.

Oscuru walks into a straight right hand from Rua.

That has opened up Light Oscuru's cut even more.
Oscuru stuns Rua with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Rua throws a sloppy head kick and Oscuru moves out of range easily.
Light Oscuru is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rua pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

and Oscuru counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Rua throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Oscuru's waist but Oscuru gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Rua off to one side.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
