20 - 15 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mariusz Zakrzewski! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A looping hook to the body misses from Diaz. Zakrzewski does a little dance to reset his feet. Diaz throws a predictable looking body shot
enabling Zakrzewski to counter with a crisp jab. Nice defenses there by Zakrzewski. Diaz throws out a loose jab but Zakrzewski uses good head movement to avoid it. Diaz throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Zakrzewski sees it coming and avoids it easily. Nick Diaz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz swings away with a body shot that misses
and Zakrzewski counters by clinching up. A short right from Zakrzewski. Diaz jumps guard but Zakrzewski stands there with Diaz around his waist. Diaz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Zakrzewski lands with a short head shot on the inside. Diaz manages to pull guard.
Zakrzewski got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Zakrzewski has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted. Diaz looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Zakrzewski is defending well. Diaz quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Zakrzewski has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Diaz celebrates on the ropes, with the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Nick Diaz! Nick Diaz spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
