PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vinnie Sinistra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Reed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Vinnie Sinistra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chad Reed!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Chris Edwards and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Reed shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Reed looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Sinistra trying to control but Reed postures up.
Reed should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Reed wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sinistra keeps working.
The fighters are battling for position here. Sinistra manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Reed must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Reed looking to sit in guard and control but Sinistra gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Sinistra wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Reed throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
Reed tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Reed wants to stand and escape but Sinistra is having none of it.
Sinistra passes Reed's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Sinistra is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Reed defends it well.
Reed is trying to get back to full guard.

Sinistra is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Reed is just riding it out for now. Sinistra eventually gives up the hold.

Sinistra is looking to take a break and control but Reed is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Reed is trying to stand up here but Sinistra is controlling him well.

Sinistra is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Reed is trying to stand.

Sinistra seems to be looking for submissions.
Reed is looking to improve his position.

Sinistra wants to control but Reed is keeping him busy.
Reed wants to get back to his feet.
Sinistra throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Sinistra will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sinistra is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Reed has managed to free his arm - good work.
Reed is trying to stand back up but Sinistra is controlling him

Sinistra is working for a submission of some sort.
Reed desperately trying to maintain half guard.
Reed tries to roll over but Sinistra keeps him under control.

Sinistra is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Reed doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Sinistra.
Reed really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sinistra. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Reed controlling the position for now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Reed wants to improve his position but Sinistra is controlling well.
Sinistra sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Reed defending well though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Vinnie Sinistra will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Reed fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.

Reed darts in and clinches Sinistra up against the cage.

Reed manages to break the clinch.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sinistra enables Reed to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sinistra manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Reed slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Sinistra working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Reed doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Reed manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Reed stays in close to Sinistra's body and controls the position.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Chad Reed has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Reed pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Reed instigates a clinch.

Reed successfully pulls guard.
Reed looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sinistra wants to control from the top but Reed keeps moving.

Sinistra postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Reed is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sinistra, into his guard.
Reed wants to control from the top but Sinistra keeps moving.
Reed postures up in Sinistra's guard and throws a big left but Sinistra blocks it.
Reed slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Chad Reed has got the better of the ground game so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Reed cracks Sinistra with a solid left hand.
Sinistra being controlled here, momentarily.

Sinistra escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Reed gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Reed wants to control from the top but Sinistra keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reed has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sinistra is proving hard to escape from.
Reed engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Reed wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Sinistra's closed guard. He's half up but Sinistra has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Sinistra pivots and extends the arm, Reed falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Sinistra! Well done that man!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Vinnie Sinistra!
Vinnie Sinistra was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
