Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Big Slack (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bobby Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Big Slack!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Skip Squint and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith tries to close the distance and clinch up but Slack swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Smith misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Slack takes the fight into the clinch.

Slack pulls guard successfully.
Smith really is a fat lump.
Slack utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Slack working a defensive guard here.
Smith has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Slack has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Smith got a little sloppy there for a moment and Slack has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smith has managed to get both his arms back between Slack's legs - danger averted.
Slack bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Smith's guard.

Slack sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Smith's guard.
Smith is trying to get back to full guard.
Smith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Slack is working away from the top position though.

Slack working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Smith trying to hold on to Slack's head to control him but Slack postures up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Smith displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Slack.

Slack bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Smith is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Slack has just dragged him back down to the mat.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Slack can do anything to dispel that myth.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Slack is controlling Smith's trapped leg to prevent Smith from advancing to side control.

Big Slack has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Smith enables Slack to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smith manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Slack is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Smith tries for a takedown but Slack circles away easily
and Slack cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smith throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Smith gets caught flat footed, as Slack shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Slack gets to his feet - Smith follows without any prompting.

Slack takes the fight into the clinch.
Slack can't get the takedown.
Smith tries for a takedown but Slack manages to get underhooks.
Slack avoiding damage as Smith throws knees to the body.

Slack gets control of Smith's arms and successfully pulls guard. Slack will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Smith wanted to stand there but Slack had control of the position.

Slack has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Smith off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Smith takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Slack throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smith checks the leg kick nicely there.

Slack clinches up with Smith and pushes him back against the cage.

Big Slack showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Smith takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Smith moves in looking to clinch but Slack pushes him off.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Big Slack wasn't active enough on the ground.

Smith tries to sprawl but Slack drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Smith is trying to maintain the position but Slack is very close to passing his half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Smith wants to get back to his feet.
Smith won't allow Slack to pass to mount.
Smith trying to control but Slack postures up.
Slack scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Slack is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Smith is looking for a sweep. Slack is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Slack is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Slack tries to pass to full mount but Smith defends it.
Slack takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Big Slack was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Slack dives in and grabs Smith's left leg, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes down on Slack's head and hops out.
Smith darts in trying to clinch

and Slack counters with a single leg into guard. Smith didn't expect that.
Smith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Slack!
Slack has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Smith manages to capitalize on a mistake by Slack to take his back!
Slack trying to control the action but Smith just sinks the hooks in.
Big Slack has got the better of the ground game so far.
Smith is trying to stick to Slack's back but Slack is turning into Smith. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Smith's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Slack.
Big Slack is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Big Slack comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Slack has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
