PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between John The Pitbull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The Pitbull comes into the arena with Three 6 Mafia - It's a Fight blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Miller's choice of entrance music: Ice Cube - Gangsta Rap Made Me Do It. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Marcus Miller was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 21 - 1, fighting out of London, John The Pitbull!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 25 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcus Miller!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and William Gold.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller misses the shot to the body.
Miller fails to land the takedown.
Horrible takedown by Miller or perhaps it was just good defense by The Pitbull which made him look bad.
The Pitbull throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Miller looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The Pitbull is in trouble now - Miller has advanced to mount!
The Pitbull regains half guard.

The Pitbull looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

The Pitbull is looking to improve his position.
It looks like Miller is going to stand back up.
The Pitbull makes his way to full guard. A much better position for The Pitbull.

Miller got a little sloppy there for a moment and The Pitbull has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Miller has managed to get both his arms back between The Pitbull's legs - danger averted.

Miller stands up and waves to The Pitbull to follow him.
The Pitbull just misses with a punch to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
The Pitbull takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

The Pitbull closes the distance and clinches.
Miller is pressed up against the cage. The Pitbull has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Miller down to the mat. Miller avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Miller shoots in for a double leg but The Pitbull sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
John The Pitbull has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus Miller.

The Pitbull gets a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The Pitbull throws a series of strikes that have Miller backpedaling.


It looks like Marcus Miller has been cut.
Miller misses the jab.
Miller tries to clinch
and The Pitbull counters with a straight right hand.
Miller fails with a takedown attempt.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Miller gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The Pitbull manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Miller manages to get himself to full guard.

Miller looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Miller is looking to stand up but The Pitbull isn't so interested in that idea.
The Pitbull cracks Miller with a solid left hand.

Miller has his foot on The Pitbull's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. The Pitbull works his way back into a safe position though.
The Pitbull looking to sit in guard and control but Miller gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The Pitbull had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Miller defends it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that John The Pitbull will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Marcus Miller's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

The Pitbull clinches.
The Pitbull is looking for a takedown.
The Pitbull has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Miller avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
The Pitbull tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Miller smiles and moves away.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John The Pitbull. That's going to take a lot out of him.
No luck for Miller with that takedown attempt.

Miller fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

The Pitbull clinches with his opponent.
The Pitbull is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Miller gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
The Pitbull is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Miller throws a blind hook that connects with the side of The Pitbulls head.
The Pitbull wants to take the fight to the mat but Miller manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
Miller is defending well against a takedown attempt.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

The Pitbull has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Miller clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

The Pitbull struggling to keep hold of the position.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Miller rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The Pitbull looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Miller is trying to control but can't.

Miller moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Miller looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
The Pitbull wants to pass the guard but Miller is keeping the position.

The Pitbull gets to his feet. Miller looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Miller throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Miller tries to close the distance and clinch but The Pitbull swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The Pitbull misses with a jab, cross combination.
Miller goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.


It looks like John The Pitbull has been cut.

Miller gets caught flat footed, as The Pitbull shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
The Pitbull looking to sit in guard and control but Miller gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Miller has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of The Pitbull is proving hard to escape from.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Miller wants to pass the guard but The Pitbull is keeping the position.
The Pitbull has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Miller has passed into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John The Pitbull dominated that second round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Miller tries to clinch but The Pitbull moves out of range.

The Pitbull feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The Pitbull gets to his feet - Miller follows without any prompting.
The Pitbull throws a big shot that misses.

Miller tries to keep at a distance but The Pitbull has taken the fight into the clinch.

The Pitbull manages to pull guard.

The Pitbull keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully.
Miller tries to free his leg and advance position but The Pitbull is retaining full guard.

Miller avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Miller has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of The Pitbull is proving hard to escape from.

Miller gets to his feet - The Pitbull follows without any prompting.

Miller gets tackled into the cage by The Pitbull. The Pitbull maintains the clinch.
The Pitbull drops down looking for an ankle pick but Miller pulls his leg out and moves away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miller misses with a double jab.
Miller fails in his attempt to clinch.

Miller shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The Pitbull has Miller pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Miller manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
The Pitbull jumps guard but Miller turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John The Pitbull. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Miller pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Miller wants to clinch.

The Pitbull drives through with a takedown into guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

This has been an exciting period of action!
The Pitbull scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to John The Pitbull.
Well The Pitbull has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
