PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Samko Kahric (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Bruens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kahric comes into the arena with BHF blaring out of the sound system. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Samko Kahric!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Bruens!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kahric shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Bruens pinned against the cage. Bruens gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kahric tries to clinch but Bruens moves out of range.
A solid leg kick lands there for Kahric.
Kahric pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Bruens shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kahric's guard.
Kahric looking for a sweep. Not yet Kahric, not yet.
Kahric avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Kahric is looking for a triangle here but Bruens uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Bruens tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bruens has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bruens working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Kahric manages to get back to half guard.
Bruens takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Bruens is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kahric defends it well.
Bruens has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Bruens is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kahric is just riding it out for now. Bruens eventually gives up the hold.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bruens is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bruens looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Bruens in particular looking to stall.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bruens passes to side control.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Bruens tries to score with some ground and pound. Kahric controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Bruens wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kahric, who protects the arm well.
Kahric gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Bruens wants to free his trapped foot but Kahric is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Bruens is trying to control the action in half guard but Kahric is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Bruens keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
Bruens throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Kahric trying to control from the bottom.
Bruens wants to take a breather but Kahric is having none of it.
Kahric knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bruens on the ground.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kahric is trying to get back to full guard.
Kahric is breathing heavily.
Bruens slows the pace down in half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Bruens dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Bruens bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Bruens trying to control the position but Kahric is working away.
Kahric stops Bruens from passing to mount.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bruens tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bruens has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Bruens advances to mount.
Kahric is squirming around, avoiding Bruens's attempts to control the action.
Bruens throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Bruens looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Bruens looking to control and managing it successfully.
Bruens wants to control the pace but Kahric is squirming around nicely.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Despite being in the dominant position, Paul Bruens just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Bruens has his takedown stuffed

and Kahric counters with a nice double leg into guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bruens trying to keep a closed guard but Kahric is proving a slippery customer.
Kahric loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Bruens has his feet on Kahric's thighs here. He's pushed Kahric off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Kahric screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
