Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Slovnov Metatartov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Takeshi Shuhan!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Matti Vanhoillinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Metatartov throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Shuhan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Metatartov is in Shuhan's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Shuhan is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Metatartov drops back looking for a leg! Shuhan is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Shuhan manages to kick Metatartov off! Metatartov jumps back into Shuhan's guard.
Shuhan is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Metatartov is aware though and is defending well.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Shuhan can't keep his opponent in guard - Metatartov advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Metatartov is trying to work for a kimura but Shuhan is defending well.
Metatartov is breathing heavily.
Metatartov is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Shuhan sees it coming and defends easily.
Shuhan is trying to control but can't.
Shuhan gets full guard.
Metatartov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Shuhan pushes a forearm under Metatartov's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Metatartov is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Takeshi Shuhan!
After winning the bout, Takeshi Shuhan thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
