The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
White shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Chi Minh is trying to defend but White finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Chi Minh tries to kick White off but White keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Chi Minh really doesn't want to stay on the ground with White. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Chi Minh is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute White jumps into side control!
Chi Minh is trying to escape the position but White is controlling the position.
White works to advance to full mount. Chi Minh defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
White is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! White extends the arm and Chi Minh is forced to tap!
