Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 19 - 0, fighting out of London, John Doe! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Ryan Chiappe! The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Chiappe fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Doe sprawls well initially but Chiappe persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Chiappe works his way into side control. Doe is not content to let Chiappe control the position. Chiappe working the ground and pound. Chiappe is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Doe is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Chiappe in side control, throwing shots but Doe defends. Chiappe is working Doe over with some ground and pound from side control. Chiappe misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chiappe wants to control but Doe is keeping him busy. Chiappe misses with the ground and pound. You can see the frustration on Doe's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Doe is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Doe holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now. Doe is looking to improve his position.
Chiappe throwing shots but Doe is blocking nicely. Doe is trying to maintain the position but Chiappe is very close to passing his half guard. Chiappe looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doe wants to get back to full guard but Chiappe has mounted him! Doe is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Chiappe cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Chiappe tries to control but Doe wriggling away. Chiappe looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. Doe tries to hold on but Chiappe pushes him away. Chiappe raining down hammerfists from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Chiappe throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Chiappe throws a wild left hand from mount and Doe manages to wriggle his way back to half guard. Chiappe is working for a submission of some sort.
Chiappe thows a huge punch but Doe dodges it nicely.
Doe pushes Chiappe off looking to stand but Chiappe dives back in and keeps control.
Doe avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Chiappe. Chiappe is looking for a kimura here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Doe on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Chiappe wants to pass the guard but Doe is defending well. Chiappe seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Doe does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. The fighters are battling for position here. Doe manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Doe wants to stand but Chiappe is controlling the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Chiappe dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Doe swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Doe is trying hard to land a takedown here. Chiappe sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. Chiappe looks to land a left hand but Doe moved out of range nicely. Chiappe fails to land the takedown. Doe tries to clinch but Chiappe is having none of it. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chiappe is defended easily by Doe. Doe drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Chiappe trying to keep a closed guard but Doe is proving a slippery customer.
Chiappe is pulling down on Doe's head to control his posture. Doe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Chiappe has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Doe has managed to get both his arms back between Chiappe's legs - danger averted.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doe is looking to stand up but Chiappe won't let him. Doe decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Chiappe, up you get! Chiappe misses with a takedown and Doe counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Chiappe is lucky that one didn't land flush. John Doe has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ryan Chiappe. Doe gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Chiappe to score an easy takedown into full guard. Chiappe cracks Doe with a solid left hand. Doe has his hands on Chiappe's head, controlling the position. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Chiappe chips away with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doe is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Chiappe is looking to work some ground and pound but Doe has wrist control. Chiappe wants to control from the top but Doe keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Chiappe is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Ryan Chiappe wasn't active enough on the ground. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Chiappe is defended easily by Doe. Chiappe fails with the takedown. Doe throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Chiappe. Doe throws a nice head kick!
Doe lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Doe.
Chiappe is rocked! Whack! Doe lands a heavy head kick that drops Chiappe. The ref tackles Doe to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Chiappe was done.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). John Doe!
