Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sook Madik! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tadeusz Pieta! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pieta scores with a punch to the head. Pieta swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Madik. Madik ducks right into an uppercut from Pieta. Tadeusz Pieta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pieta works the jab nicely. Pieta throws a big shot that misses. A punch lands to the side of Madik 's head but he takes it in his stride. A jab from Pieta misses. Madik closes this distance looking for a takedown but Pieta circles away. Madik is breathing heavily. Madik uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Pieta. Pieta connects with the punch. Madik staying out of range there. Pieta throws a jab but it's blocked by Madik. Nice defenses there by Madik. Madik really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Madik keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Pieta. Pieta scores with a nice head shot. Madik ducks under a wild hook from Pieta. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Madik shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Madik's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Pieta connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Madik scrambles back to his feet. Pieta misses with a straight left. Madik avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Nice uppercut lands for Pieta. That snapped Madik's head back.
Pieta cracks Madik with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Madik shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Pieta lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Pieta connects with a single shot there.
Madik is rocked! A big right from Pieta misses. Oh Madik is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Madik gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Pieta. Madik on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Pieta throws a hook but Madik blocks it. Madik slips a straight right by Pieta. Madik seems to have got his legs back now. Pieta lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Pieta is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Madik had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pieta smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Pieta looks to throw the jab but Madik is out of range. Madik looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Pieta scores with a jab. Pieta's jab looks to have found its range, popping Madik under the eye. Pieta's jab looks to have found its range, popping Madik under the eye. Madik uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Pieta. Madik gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Pieta. Madik walks into a jab. Pieta moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Pieta might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Pieta tests Madik's chin there with a solid looking shot. Jab from Pieta. Madik takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Madik has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Madik there as he acknowledges the shot. A swing and a miss from Pieta. Pieta connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Madik's hands. Pieta throws a lazy right hand but Madik sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Pieta lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Pieta cracks Madik with a right hand to the side of the head. Tadeusz Pieta is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pieta connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Madik's hands. A lazy left from Pieta finds it's target. Pieta with a jab. Pieta's jab looks to have found its range, popping Madik under the eye. Pieta throws a hook but Madik avoids it easily. Madik looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Madik takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Pieta lands a really nice looking cross but Madik seems unphased.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Madik on the wrong end of a nice jab. Pieta moves into range and connects with a jab. Pieta scores with a jab. Madik acknowledges it with a nod of the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Pieta cracks Madik with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Madik tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Pieta pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Madik is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:21 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tadeusz Pieta!
