Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Takashi Kang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Auqui Budstre!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Edson Gomes and Leandro Rodrigues.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Budstre looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Kang manages to get to full guard.
Kang is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Budstre throws an elbow that misses. Kang uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Budstre's guard. Nice move by Kang!
Kang trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Budstre escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kang gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Budstre is trying to keep Kang in close.
Kang is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kang trying to control but Budstre is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Budstre really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kang. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kang distracts Budstre with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Budstre had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kang defends it easily.
Kang loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kang in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Budstre keeping moving, preventing Kang from controlling successfully.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Budstre has his foot on Kang's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kang works his way back into a safe position though.
Kang drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kang jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Kang is pushing down on Budstre's leg trying to pass to half guard. Budstre is fighting to maintain full guard but Kang has managed to sneak the leg through.
Budstre avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Kang.
Kang is looking to take a break and control but Budstre is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kang wants to work for an arm triangle but Budstre is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Kang is thwarting Budstre's attempts to control the position.
Kang is trying for a kimura here. Budstre looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Kang wins by kimura!
