Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Matt Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Alec Ball and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes checks a leg kick.
Segura lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


It looks like Matt Hughes has been cut.
Hughes fails to land the takedown.

Hughes feints and as Segura raises his hands in defense, Hughes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Hughes postures up.
Hughes throwing strikes but missing.
Segura will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hughes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hughes looking to pass the guard.
Segura not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Davey Segura just wasn't active enough.
Segura throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hughes.

Hughes shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Hughes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Segura works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Segura will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hughes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Segura has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hughes has managed to get both his arms back between Segura's legs - danger averted.

Hughes really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Segura. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Hughes postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hughes throws an elbow that misses. Segura uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hughes's guard. Nice move by Segura!

Hughes is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Hughes utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Segura wants to stand but Hughes is controlling his posture from full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hughes holds on and takes a little breather.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Matt Hughes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Hughes fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Segura sprawls well initially but Hughes persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Segura wants to control but Hughes is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Segura is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hughes trying to mount his opponent but Segura defends it.
Hughes drops an elbow to the side of Segura's head.


Segura is rocked!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hughes passes to full mount!
Oh Segura is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Hughes connects with a bit shot that sees Segura covering up! More strikes from Hughes and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! Hughes is our winner by TKO!
