Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dexter Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Donald Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dexter Morgan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Donald Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morgan shoots in and gets a takedown into Stewart's guard.
Morgan scoring with some ground and pound.
Stewart looking to control.
Stewart is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Morgan wants to get up but he can't break Stewart's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Morgan drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Stewart dives on top into guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Morgan is trying to maintain the position but Stewart is very close to passing his half guard.

Morgan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Morgan tries to get out of the position.

Stewart is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Morgan is just riding it out for now. Stewart eventually gives up the hold.
Stewart throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

A close round but Donald Stewart will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Stewart shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Morgan but Morgan pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Stewart feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Morgan scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

and Morgan counters with a one-two to the body.
Morgan misses with a series of wild punches.
Morgan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Stewart tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Morgan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Donald Stewart seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nice sprawl there from Morgan as Stewart shoots in.
Dexter Morgan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Donald Stewart.
Stewart moves forwards but Morgan connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Morgan pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Stewart back to the cage. Morgan follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

Stewart needs to keep his hands up - Morgan had a free shot at his head there.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Stewart motions for Morgan to come forward. Stewart throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Stewart tries to close the distance and clinch but Morgan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
No luck for Stewart with that takedown attempt.

Morgan drives through with a takedown into Stewart's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Well Morgan has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
