The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phillips missing with a left hand there. Abbott was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. A cross from Abbott lands. The fight stays on the outside here - Abbott looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Phillips just misses with a punch to the body.
Abbott slips under a jab from Phillips. Abbott moves out of range as Phillips strikes. Abbott shoots in for a double leg but Phillips sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Phillips throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Phillips tries to keep at a distance but Abbott has taken the fight into the clinch. Phillips gets underhooks to prevent Abbott's takedown attempt.
Abbott keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Phillips's efforts to push away. Abbott drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Phillips gets the underhooks and prevents it.

It looks like Mark Abbott has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A shot to the liver by Phillips. Beautiful body shot. Abbott is breathing heavily. Phillips connects with a crisp jab. Phillips throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Abbott stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Phillips cracks a nice hook into Abbott's ribs. Phillips scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Abbott doesn't seem bothered though. Phillips slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Phillips with a body punch. A glancing blow.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Phillips sends Abbott crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Phillips is motioning to the referee to let Abbott up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Abbott is rocked! Kent Phillips is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Abbott moves out of range of the strikes. Abbott leaves his chin hanging out and Phillips seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Abbott crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
