Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Tom Hazelwood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Patterson has chosen Hotel Service Room as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patterson slips a jab and a cross from Hazelwood.

Tom Hazelwood seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Patterson shoots in for a double leg but Hazelwood sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Tom Hazelwood has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Patterson.

Patterson shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Hazelwood throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Patterson on the side of the head.
Patterson uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hazelwood.
Patterson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hazelwood tries to avoid it but Patterson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hazelwood to the ground. Hazelwood escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Patterson lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Hazelwood backs up against the cage.
Hazelwood loads up on a big right hand but Patterson slips the punch.

Patterson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Patterson shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hazelwood but Hazelwood pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Patterson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Hazelwood is working to get back to half guard.
Hazelwood tries to lock up and control but Patterson gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Patterson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Hazelwood can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Hazelwood is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Patterson has taken his back.

Patterson has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Hazelwood! Can he survive? No! He's out! Patterson gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
