PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Andre Mamute (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jakob Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Miller's choice of entrance music: The Night. Jakob Miller is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jakob Miller!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mamute misses with a jab, cross combination.
Mamute avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Miller rushes Mamute and presses him up against the cage.
Miller is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Mamute is defending well for now.

and Mamute counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Jakob Miller seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Miller tries to close the distance and clinch but Mamute swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

The fighters circle momentarily. Mamute darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Miller stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Miller wants it to stay on the feet.
Nice takedown defense from Miller. No joy for Mamute on that attempt.
Miller tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mamute swats him away and circles back towards the center.

and Mamute makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Mamute connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Mamute has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Miller is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Miller prevents a takedown attempt there.
Miller misses with a knee to the head.
Miller throws a knee to the head but misses.
Mamute is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Mamute on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Mamute tries to pull guard but Miller won't allow it.
Miller lands a left hand that snaps the head of Mamute backwards.
Miller misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Mamute.
Miller tries to land knees in the clinch but Mamute avoids the damage to the body.
With the fighters up against the cage, Miller throws an elbow but misses.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mamute wants to take the fight to the mat but Miller manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.

Miller throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Miller tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Andre Mamute will probably get the nod.

Miller looks to clinch

and Mamute counters with a single leg into guard. Miller didn't expect that.
Mamute pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Miller is keeping the position for now.
Miller seems keen to control Mamute's posture.

Mamute drops back, looking for a kneebar! Miller looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Miller looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Miller!
Miller misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Mamute wants to control but Miller postures up.
The ground and pound from Miller seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Miller throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Mamute works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Mamute here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Miller takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Mamute is trying to stand up here but Miller is controlling him well.
Miller is trying to control the action in half guard but Mamute is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Miller thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mamute's head.
Mamute wants to get back to his feet.
Mamute gets full guard.
Miller throws a big elbow that misses.
Mamute is trying to control the position but Miller postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mamute keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully.
Miller tries to free his leg and advance position but Mamute is retaining full guard.

Miller stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Mamute avoids the body shot from Miller.

and Mamute counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mamute feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Miller wants to stand but Mamute is controlling the position.

Mamute drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Miller dives on top into guard.

Miller keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Mamute's head.
Miller wants to control from the top but Mamute keeps moving.

Mamute has his feet on Miller's thighs here. He's pushed Miller off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Miller screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
