PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Glin Burman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Roro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Glin Burman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Nathan Roro!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Steve Erwin and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Roro shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Burman's guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Roro missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Roro stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Burman throws a head kick that misses.
A jab lands there for Burman.
Burman just misses with a punch to the body.

Roro has managed to clinch.
Burman is looking to break free of the clinch but Roro has double underhooks.

Roro has Burman pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Roro pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Burman tumbling to the mat - Roro dives into Burman's guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Burman is working an open guard so Roro takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Burman looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Roro is fending him off so far but Burman persists. Nope, Roro circles away and we're back to standing.

Roro shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Roro throws a big right hand that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Burman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Roro is controlling him.

Roro stands and steps away. Burman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Roro scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Burman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Burman is breathing heavily.
Burman is pushing Roro's head away, looking to escape. Roro manages to hold on to the position though.
Roro happy to just control the position for now.
Roro has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Roro stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Roro gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Roro wants the takedown. Burman is fighting it off but Roro persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Burman's guard against the cage.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Roro advances position into side control!

Roro has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Roro throws a shot to the body.

Roro closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Burman pushes Roro away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Roro gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Roro has knee on belly and moves into mount.

Roro's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Burman is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.

It looks like Roro might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Nathan Roro hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Roro closes the distance and clinches.
Burman tries to land a knee to the head but Roro blocks with his arms.

Roro decides to pull guard.
Roro managing to control the position.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Roro has his foot on Burman's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Burman works his way back into a safe position though.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Roro dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


No luck with that takedown attempt from Burman.

Roro shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Roro lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Roro has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Burman's face.
Roro won't let Burman get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Roro stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Burman moves to clinch but Roro breaks away

and Roro counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Roro stands up from Burman's guard - Roro perhaps looking for a knockout.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Roro throws a right and a left that Burman avoids nicely.
Roro is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Roro misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Burman.
Glin Burman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Roro will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Burman tries to sprawl but Roro drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Burman wants to get back to his feet.
Roro performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Roro has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Roro looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Burman with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Burman is looking to get back to is feet but Roro passes into side control.
Roro trying to control the position but Burman is working away.
Burman is trying to escape the position but Roro is controlling the position.
Burman is trying to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Roro taking a breather here.
Burman wants to get back to his feet but Roro drags him back down.

The referee asks Roro politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Roro prefers to stall for the moment though.

Nathan Roro has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Burman connects with a high kick.
Glin Burman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Roro darts in and clinches Burman up against the cage.

Roro has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Burman regains guard immediately.
Burman wants to get back to his feet but Roro is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Roro cracks Burman with a solid left hand.
Roro is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Roro slips nicely into half guard.
Burman is trying to stand up here but Roro is controlling him well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burman looks like he's trying to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Roro showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!



Roro drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Roro accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Roro gets to his feet - Burman follows without any prompting.
Burman closes this distance looking for a takedown but Roro circles away.
Roro scoring well with a low kick there.

Roro shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Burman is trying to defend but Roro finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Roro has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Roro tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Roro lands a big shot there that rocks Burman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Roro looking to control but Burman is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Roro lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roro is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Burman can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Burman really wants to buck Roro off and get back to his feet.
