PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Edward Hall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Sliva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sliva has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Alex Sliva will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edward Hall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Alex Sliva!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Jorge Garcia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hall fails in his attempt to clinch.
Sliva looks gassed!
Sliva circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sliva avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Hall fails to land the takedown.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hall.
Sliva prevents Hall from improving position.
Check out the look on Hall's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Hall wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sliva keeps working.
Hall fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Hall staying calm.
Hall in side control, throwing shots but Sliva defends.

Hall stands up.

Hall closes the distance and clinches.
Hall fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Hall lands a body shot in the clinch.

Hall breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Hall swings and misses with a hook to the body.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Hall manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Hall not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Hall working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Sliva doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Sliva manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hall is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hall performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Hall throwing shots but Sliva is blocking nicely.

Sliva wants to control but Hall is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Hall trying to control the action but Sliva is working from the bottom.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

We're going to have a standup here because Edward Hall wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Sliva tries to keep at a distance but Hall has taken the fight into the clinch.

Hall decides to pull guard.

Hall will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Hall has control of Sliva's left arm, preventing Sliva from doing any damage.
Hall is looking to stand up but Sliva isn't so interested in that idea.
Hall wants to sweep here but Sliva controlling him for the moment.

Hall looking for a guillotine here but Sliva defends easily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Hall is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edward Hall dominated that round.
That's time! Hall's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Hall fails with a takedown attempt.
Hall will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Hall.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Edward Hall. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sliva keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hall throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Sliva is breathing heavily.
Hall fails with a takedown attempt.

Sliva keeping moving, preventing Hall from controlling successfully.
Hall slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Hall stands and throws Sliva's legs to the side, diving into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sliva struggling a bit here.
Hall throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Hall working the body and head with strikes.
Hall taking a breather here.
Hall wants to control but Sliva is keeping him busy.
Hall working the ground and pound from side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Hall is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Sliva is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Hall stands up and beckons Sliva to his feet.
Sliva slaps away a takedown attempt from Hall, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Hall lands with a kick to the temple. Sliva shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Horrible takedown by Hall or perhaps it was just good defense by Sliva which made him look bad.
Hall shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Sliva as he jumps to the side.
Hall tries a head kick but it misses.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hall is looking to clinch.
Hall tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Sliva counters with a one-two to the body.
Edward Hall is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hall wants to clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Sliva shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hall as he avoids it easily.
Hall misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hall changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sliva tries to avoid it but Hall manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sliva to the ground. Sliva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Hall gets a double leg takedown into Sliva's guard.
Hall wants to control from the top but Sliva keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Edward Hall dominated that second round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Hall gets tackled into the cage by Sliva. Sliva maintains the clinch.

Hall jumps guard.

Hall looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Sliva is defending well. Hall quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Sliva has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Hall celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Edward Hall!
A very excited looking Edward Hall made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
