Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Nena Apina (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stanley Stone (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stanley Stone!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Aafke Stam and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stone tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Stone tries to sprawl but Apina drives through with a takedown into half guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Apina is looking to pass Stone's guard but actually Stone recovers to full guard.
Apina scoring with punches to the head and body.
Stone is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Apina is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Apina is looking to work some ground and pound but Stone has wrist control.

Apina could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Apina knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Stone on the ground.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Apina connects with a nice short shot to Stone's temple.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Apina is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Apina is looking to stall here but Stone recovers full guard.
Apina might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Apina not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Apina is working Stone over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Apina tries to land knees in the clinch but Stone avoids the damage to the body.
Stone tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Apina smiles and moves away.
Apina throws a wild body kick that Stone sees coming a mile off.

Apina throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Stone scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.

Stone moves into the clinch.
Stone has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Apina after a bit of a struggle.

Apina works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Apina trying to control the position from guard on top but Stone is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Apina is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stone is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

We're going to have a standup here because Nena Apina wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Stone tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Apina manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Apina takes the fight into the clinch.

Stone jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Apina walks away with a smile on his face. Stone gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Nena Apina has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stanley Stone.
Apina fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Stone manages to avoid it.
Stone fails with the takedown.
Stone throws a head kick that misses.
Stone is breathing heavily.
Stone tries to clinch up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stone.

Apina closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Apina lands in his opponent's guard.
Apina has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Stone is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Apina is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Apinais looking to pass into half guard but Stone pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Stone is in guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Apina shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Stone napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Apina walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Stone checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Apina is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Stone's half guard.

Apina fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Stone to the ground. Apina is now in Stone's guard.

Apina takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Apina stalling away here and it's allowed Stone to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Well Apina has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
