Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dean Mccarry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Josh Barnet!
The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Barnet closes the distance and clinches.
Barnet tries for a takedown. No joy.
Mccarry controlling the action here for a moment.
Mccarry is looking to control Barnet's arms but Barnet gets an underhook and turns him. Now Mccarry has his back to the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Mccarry's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Barnet has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Mccarry is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Barnet gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Barnet is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mccarry defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnet thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

Barnet is pressing down on Mccarry's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mccarry is holding on for now.

Mccarry is concentrating on defense, preventing Barnet from advancing position.
Barnet has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Mccarry is looking for a sweep. Barnet is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Barnet lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Barnet throwing shots but Mccarry is blocking nicely.

Barnet seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Mccarry is trying to get back to full guard.
Barnet not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Barnet thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mccarry's head.
Mccarry wants to improve his position but Barnet is controlling well.
Mccarry works his way to full guard. Good work.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Mccarry tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Barnet slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Barnet postures up in Mccarry's guard and throws a big left but Mccarry blocks it.
Mccarry keeping moving, preventing Barnet from controlling successfully.

Mccarry trying to keep a closed guard but Barnet is proving a slippery customer.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Josh Barnet wasn't active enough on the ground.
Barnet takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mccarry comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Barnet feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Barnet shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Mccarry misses with a hook.
Barnet shoots in but no luck this time.

Dean Mccarry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barnet tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mccarry sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Barnet somewhat.
Mccarry thows a body shot but no joy.

Mccarry fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Barnet looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Barnet is breathing heavily.
Decent striking displayed by Mccarry there.
Mccarry connects with a body shot that sends Barnet's belly button to the back.
Mccarry throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barnet is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Mccarry, as that shot connected.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mccarry plants his feet and throws a brutal three punch combo that sends Barnet swiftly into unconsciousness! Right, left, right! Boom, boom, boom! Barnet face plants, battered and bloodied! He might never be the same again after that finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:08 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Dean Mccarry!
