Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rojo Sangria! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
24 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paulo Kang! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kang lands a nice hook to Sangria's body. Sangria takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Kang throws a nice head kick!
Kang tries to bum rush Sangria with a series of wild strikes but Sangria uses good footwork to avoid the assault. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Kang checks a leg kick. Kang throws a quick inside leg kick. Kang is looking to land body kicks. Sangria works Kang's body with a nice hook. Kang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Kang tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Kang lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Sangria circles away quickly and effectively. Kang is looking to clinch. Sangria blocks a leg kick. Sangria throws a jab when Kang was well out of range. Sangria avoids a lazy jab quite easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Sangria misses with a body shot.
Kang takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Sangria has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Kang. Kang takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sangria digs a good body shot into Kang's ribs. A lazy left from Sangria finds it's target. Kang keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sangria. Paulo Kang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kang fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Sangria checks it well. Sangria just misses with a punch to the body.
Kang has managed to clinch.
Sangria is struggling to control the position. Kang tries a body shot but Sangria blocks it.
Kang lands a hook that snaps the head of Sangria backwards. Kang is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Sangria is defending well for now. Kang misses with the head strike.
Sangria tries to score a body lock takedown but Kang shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Kang tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sangria is trying to break the clinch but Kang has him pressed against the cage. Kang escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Kang throws a hook but Sangria blocks it. Sangria scores with a nice strike. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Sangria lands a slapping body shot.
Kang blocks a jab. Kang avoids the body shot from Sangria.
Sangria throws a shot to the body.
Kang throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Kang lands with a shot to the body. Kang keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Sangria. Sangria avoids the head kick by Kang.
Sangria is looking to chop away at Kang's legs. Kang ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sangria shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kang as he avoids it easily. Sangria lands a body shot.
Sangria just misses with a punch to the body.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sangria. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rojo Sangria. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kang displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sangria. Sangria is looking to wear down Kang with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Kang lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Sangria is breathing heavily. Sangria misses with a hook. Kang tries to clinch up but Sangria circles away and keeps his distance. Sangria swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Kang. Kang tries to land a leg kick but Sangria saw it coming and moves away.
A telegraphed right hand from Kang misses the target. Kang connects with a combination that backs up Sangria into the cage. Kang lands a flurry of punches that gets past Sangria's guard. Sangria is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Kang bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Paulo Kang! Paulo Kang is the new middleweight champion! In his post fight interview, Paulo Kang started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
