Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anthony Pettis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Luke Taylor Ii!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pettis tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Pettis lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Taylor Ii shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Pettis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Taylor Ii decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Nice uppercut lands for Pettis. That snapped Taylor Ii's head back.
Pettis looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Taylor Ii tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Pettis is able to avoid easily.
Taylor Ii shoots in and drives through. Pettis sprawls well.
Luke Taylor Ii seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Taylor Ii tries to clinch up but Pettis circles away and keeps his distance.
Pettis pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Taylor Ii has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Pettis avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Anthony Pettis has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Taylor Ii.

Taylor Ii breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Taylor Ii closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pettis to the mat! Pettis manages to get full guard.
Pettis is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Pettis will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Taylor Ii shoots in for a takedown but Pettis shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Horrible takedown by Taylor Ii or perhaps it was just good defense by Pettis which made him look bad.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Pettis will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Pettis throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Taylor Ii cracks Pettis with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Taylor Ii has hold of Pettis's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Pettis manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Taylor Ii cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Pettis seems to have got his legs back now.
Pettis is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

Taylor Ii wants to finish this one by submission but Pettis is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Taylor Ii.

Taylor Ii is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Pettis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Pettis shrugs it off.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Luke Taylor Ii showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Luke Taylor Ii is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Pettis flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
