Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joey Dixon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nikolay Grigoriev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Dixon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Dark Tranquillity - Iridium. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joey Dixon! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
19 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nikolay Grigoriev! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dixon looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Grigoriev is refusing to be controlled, as Dixon sits in half guard. Grigoriev pushes Dixon off looking to stand but Dixon dives back in and keeps control.
Dixon thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Grigoriev's head. Dixon sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Grigoriev defending well though. Dixon landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Grigoriev blocking the ground and pound attempt from Dixon. Dixon dives in and grabs Grigoriev's left leg, looking for a takedown. Grigoriev pushes down on Dixon's head and hops out. Dixon connects with a single shot there. Dixon uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Grigoriev. Dixon throws a body punch but Grigoriev moves out of range. Grigoriev thows a body shot but no joy. Grigoriev plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Grigoriev scores with a nice right hand.
Joey Dixon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A jab from Grigoriev does it's job there.
It looks like Joey Dixon has been cut. Dixon tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Grigoriev was well out of range. Poor timing from Dixon. Dixon fails with a takedown attempt from distance. This has been an exciting period of action! Dixon shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Grigoriev as he jumps to the side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joey Dixon. That's going to take a lot out of him. Grigoriev lands a head shot. Grigoriev is looking to slow Dixon down with leg kicks. Dixon will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Dixon keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Grigoriev throws a wild body kick that Dixon sees coming a mile off. Grigoriev scores with a jab to the jaw. Grigoriev tries to land a leg kick but Dixon saw it coming and moves away.
Dixon lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Decent striking displayed by Dixon there. Grigoriev wants to clinch. Grigoriev connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Grigoriev takes the fight into the clinch. Grigoriev gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head. Grigoriev controlling the action here for a moment.

Joey Dixon's cut is getting worse. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grigoriev tries to work over Dixon's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Grigoriev has Dixon pushed against the cage. Dixon dodges an elbow strike from Grigoriev.
Grigoriev pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Grigoriev lands an elbow just above Dixon 's eye. Grigoriev stalling.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Grigoriev pressing his opponent against the cage. Grigoriev has hold of one of Dixon's legs. Dixon is fighting the takedown attempt but Grigoriev gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Grigoriev makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Nikolay Grigoriev has got the better of the ground game so far. Grigoriev is looking to work some ground and pound but Dixon has wrist control. Grigoriev throws a big right hand that misses. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Grigoriev loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Grigoriev in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Grigoriev slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Grigoriev working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Grigoriev throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Nikolay Grigoriev showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Joey Dixon's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Grigoriev throws a big shot that misses. Nikolay Grigoriev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Grigoriev keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Grigoriev avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Dixon looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Grigoriev connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Dixon looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Grigoriev is fending him off so far but Dixon persists. Nope, Grigoriev circles away and we're back to standing. Grigoriev misses with a wild body shot. A slapping leg kick lands for Grigoriev.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grigoriev missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Grigoriev seems to be looking for submissions.

He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Nikolay Grigoriev was stalling too much, according to the referee. Grigoriev moves away from the strike by Dixon. Dixon tries for a takedown but Grigoriev circles away easily and Grigoriev counters with a slapping leg kick.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dixon takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Grigoriev throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Dixon closes this distance looking for a takedown but Grigoriev circles away. Grigoriev cracks Dixon with a right hand to the side of the head. Grigoriev drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Dixon is on top in guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grigoriev is pulling down on Dixon's head to control his posture. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Dixon missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Nikolay Grigoriev comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Grigoriev has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
